I received a call last week from London and then another one from Liverpool. Today, there was yet another from Basingstoke. The chap on the line introduced himself as Luke, claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse, and he had a distinctive Indian accent. He was attempting to entice me into a deal for a new Samsung S21 at £30 per month. When I probed about his location, he insisted he was calling from London. I firmly told him to cease calling me. I have a strong hunch he’s not even in the UK. He mentioned a £35.99 deposit required for the phone, which he said would be refunded as soon as I received the device. When I questioned the necessity of this, he cited company policy as the reason. I can only imagine that some unwary people might be duped by this ruse. Moodyboy

Some bloke said he was from O2 and was offering me 40% off my bill if I gave him a code. I told him just knock it off my bill, no need to send a code, he didn’t seem too pleased. I told him I'd ring back on the official O2 number, then he hung up. I’m just gonna report this to O2.

He kept insisting he was from 02 and had a special deal for me. He said he’d send a code and I’d have to give it back to him. I told him to just email me the details and I’d think about it since 02 already has my email anyway. Then he got quite rude, talking over me and shouting that I needed to give him the code. So, I just ended the call.

On my Android, I took advantage of the call screening option. Whenever an incoming call comes from a number that isn’t saved in my contacts or a familiar business like one listed on Google Maps, the caller has to state their name. This message is then recorded and sent to me to listen to before I pick up. This time nothing was recorded which makes me think they probably ended the call. My guess is that it was another spam call.
