I received a rather distressing phone call earlier today from a bloke claiming to be an HMRC representative. He had the audacity to accuse me of tax evasion and warned me that legal action was imminent. Naturally, I knew this was utter nonsense and promptly told him where to shove it!

This has to be a scam. They want you to panic and call that number, then they’ll probably ask for your card info to "help" fix things. Don’t bother answering. Just disconnect your phone and clear your browser history to be safe.

Just got a call from a different number doing that HMRC scam thing. They had this pre-recorded voice saying I’m under investigation. Beware! ####.

I got a voicemail message saying they wanted to take £299 off me. I ended up hanging up before they could explain what it was about or who they actually were.
