I keep getting calls like this from loads of different numbers over the past few years. The spiel is always the same though. Today, a woman with a British accent said she was my local energy advisor and asked if I owned the house. When I asked which house she meant, she just hung up on me straight away, just like the others. It's obvious these scammers haven't got a clue where their targets actually live!

They start by asking if you own the house, then if you stay silent they ask if you can hear them. Even when you say you're not the owner, they just carry on with their script. It definitely isn’t a real person - sounds like AI. Just end the call and make sure to report that number here.

At first they just asked if I could hear them alright. Trouble is, this same caller has been ringing me a bunch of times and it's definitely a scam.

She first asked if I could hear her alright, then said something like, "Hi, this is Jane from your local energy care team, just giving you a quick call. How’s everything with you?" I didn’t reply, so she kept repeating the same message a couple of times, exactly the same each time. Looks like some kind of scam using an AI bot.

Got a call on my landline, which I only use for outgoing calls. The caller said they were enquiring about damp and mould issues and asked to speak with "the homeowner". Pretty obvious it was just another annoying sales pitch.
