8 yearsI just got a call on my landline from this number. I caught part of an automated message before I quickly hung up. IT'S DEFINITELY A SCAM. Here's some info I found on the HMRC website... Fake phone calls HMRC warns about a scam where an automated voice claims they’re taking legal action against you and says to ‘press 1 to speak with a caseworker and make an immediate payment’. This is totally fake, and you should just hang up straight away. Apparently, this scam is especially aimed at older and vulnerable people. There are other calls too that offer a tax refund but ask for your bank or card details. If you don’t know who’s calling, just don’t engage. If you’ve lost money because of one of these scams, you should report it to Action Fraud. The scammers use loads of different phone numbers, so if you can, send details like the date, time, number, and what they said to [email protected]. It really helps with their investigations.HMRCAction FraudSubmit Your Own Report (01248 720548)
