This number is pretty much identical to one that rang a few days back, just the last digit changed. Didn’t bother answering, no voicemail left either, so my guess is they’re just timewasting scammers or dodgy people. I’ve blocked it now... but I’m sure they’ll be back, swapping out the final digit to try and slip past again! Every time I get calls like this I label them as risky - if it’s a legit firm acting this way, I hope they go bust, and if it’s scammers, may karma hit them hard and fast!

I receive phone calls about hearing problems every day, usually at least once. The reason they contact me is because they believe I have worked in a noisy environment, although I actually haven't. It seems that this number is actually making calls from abroad, even though it appears to be a local UK number. The individuals behind these calls have somehow managed to manipulate the technology to make it seem like a local call. I've already been in touch with BT, and they have the capability to block this specific number. Alternatively, they can provide equipment that allows you to block any known numbers as well as callers who withhold their number, which is often the case with marketing calls. While this equipment does come at a cost, I am personally willing to pay for it as it would greatly benefit me given my limited mobility. Within the last 24 hours, I have received a total of four calls from this particular number. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to answer three of these calls in time.

A person called using a local phone number, possibly intentionally masked, inquiring about someone who had previously held our phone number many years ago. It is quite clear that the company or individual making this call has obtained an outdated database, or maybe they are referring to an old telephone directory (quite amusing, really!).
