I get calls like this pretty much every day from places like Manchester, Chesterfield, Birmingham, even Glasgow. I used to pick up but they either hang up as soon as I answer or just leave some voicemail I don’t bother listening to since I don’t know anyone from those areas. Nowadays, I just end the call straight away. Blocking numbers doesn’t help much because they just ring from a different one. It’s really irritating, especially when I’m waiting for an important call. Would be great if something could actually be done about this.

NEVER PICK UP. Just BLOCK the number. It’s clear they got busted by the VOICEMAIL, and didn’t leave a message because they knew if they did, it might mean it’s NOT IMPORTANT and you’d just BLOCK the call. So they chose to ANSWER but REFUSED to say why they were calling. It’s definitely a SCAM. Just BLOCK any number you don’t know. If it’s really important, they’ll contact you properly - by LETTER or a TEXT message since they already have your number.

Just missed a call earlier, but I wouldn't have picked up anyway cos I don't bother with unknown numbers. They left a message though, and here’s what they said: the clear part is in CAPITALS, the unclear bit isn’t: "HI, THIS IS PATRICIA. I CALLED REGARDING YOUR to do with your HOUSE, DON’T WORRY I’LL RING AGAIN". Over the past couple of weeks, I've had loads of calls from the annoying number 0124688582. It's always some robotic female voice talking about energy saving, which has caught me off guard more than once because I was busy with other stuff and ended up picking up. I've blocked the number now, but I reckon they'll just ring from some other irritating number next time. Honestly, just block them all.

This number has left me three voice messages so far - one on 13th August at 2:43 pm, another on 15th August at 3:05 pm, and the last on 17th August at 1:38 pm. Each time, it’s a recorded message about my home energy supply, saying they’ll ring back later. At least now I know I can just bin these voicemails without listening. I kept checking in case it was important, but it’s just a waste of time. Proper irritating!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Utilita, wanting a chat about smart gas meters. They called me Mr Hawkins, which I’m definitely not (and I never gave my name). Told them I live in a village with no gas supply, which is true, and asked nicely to be removed from their calling list. Blocked the number in the end. Also been getting calls from 0114 303 4394, a Sheffield code, from another supposed energy firm. That one’s blocked too. Bit odd both these firms are based just about 12 miles apart, innit?

Utilita... they leave a message if your phone’s not answered. Should you ring back, you only hear a pre-recorded voice saying, "You have received a call from Utilita, we’ll reach out to you again shortly. To opt out, please press 1..." and so on. Apparently, you can take your number off their contact list if you fancy!

I received a call from a chap who insisted that I was settling my energy bills either via card or a pre-payment meter. That’s not the case at all! When I inquired about the source of his information, he claimed it was stored in his system. I pointed out that he was mistaken. Then he probed into who my energy supplier was, claiming he could offer me a significantly cheaper rate. I wasn’t keen on disclosing that to him, and he seemed to get a bit miffed. I decided it was best to end the call.
