9 yearsI got a call from a man with an Asian accent who said he worked for my computer repair service. Then, out of nowhere, he started saying he was ringing on behalf of Microsoft. I just told him I don’t use a computer any more. This isn’t the first time I’ve had calls like this over the past few weeks.Microsoft9 yearsEarlier this week, I received a call from a supposed representative of Norton Security, who seemed to have taken a keen interest in my sluggish laptop. They had an alarming amount of personal information and managed to show me various faults on my device while I was using it. They claimed they couldn’t fix the issues directly and suggested I visit joinzoho.com, which I naively did. They even issued me a Norton ID to access their system. Having heard of Zoho previously, I didn’t question the legitimacy of their pitch, especially with their logo plainly displayed on my screen. They did manage to improve my PC's performance and installed a complimentary 360 Total Security software on it. At one point, they brought up the idea of upgrading to Windows 10, and to my shock, I witnessed it being downloaded onto my computer. However, when I powered it up today, the update had mysteriously disappeared. Foolishly, I ended up spending £225 on iTunes cards during the process. Initially, I thought Zoho was involved in the scam, but after a lengthy conversation with one of their representatives, it became apparent that they’re victims in this scheme as well. Please, don’t let yourself be fooled as I was. I can’t believe how easily I was taken in, and it’s left me feeling utterly foolish.Norton SecurityZohoiTunes9 yearsThis morning, I received a call from a rather dodgy line, which immediately raised my suspicions. The chap on the other end had an Asian accent and claimed to be representing BT. He even had the audacity to mention my email address! Apparently, there was an issue with my broadband, or so he said. I quickly informed him that he was definitely not from BT and that I recognised this as a scam, asking him to kindly hang up. Call ended abruptly, but what really grinds my gears is that I'm ex-directory. Just how on earth do these scammers manage to obtain my number?BT9 yearsGot a call from an Asian bloke who kept asking for me by name. When I said I was speaking, he didn’t seem to get it and asked again. I told him it was me at least three times, then he just hung up. Honestly, why can’t the authorities do something about these people?9 yearsReceived a call regarding my internet speed issues, claiming there were some corrupted files linked to my email account... they said they were from BT!BT9 yearsI kept getting calls from this number for a few days and had no idea who it was. Finally blocked it and honestly, I’m relieved I did.9 yearsGot a call from a guy with an Asian accent, ranting about my internet security or something. I'm guessing their computer just goes through random numbers, especially since my number's unlisted. I've put a block on him now!9 yearsI picked up a call at 8:50 this morning, claiming to be from Virgin Media, suggesting they could assist me in getting rid of harmful and corrupted files from my laptop. Without a second thought, I hung up straight away.Virgin Media9 yearsRang me twice within a span of ten minutes. There was a brief silence before they hung up.9 yearsGot a call just now from this number, some guy with an Asian accent pretending to be from Virgin Media, my internet provider. He’s been ringing me loads times using different stories. Today he said there was an issue with my broadband. I ended the call straight away and blocked the number - they’re likely trying to sneak in ransomware or something dodgy like that. Stay clear!Virgin Media9 yearsHere I am, lounging in bed, having a rather horrid day battling cancer, and to top it all off, I've been hit with these incessant phone calls-four of them within the last thirty minutes! Does anyone have any clever, legal suggestions on how to put a stop to this nonsense? As much as I'd like to unleash my frustrations on these bothersome callers, I know that would get me into trouble. Even the silent ones are just as maddening as those daft souls trying to pull a fast one with their chatter. One has to wonder about the dreariness of their own lives. I've gone ahead and reported these nuisances to the police and received a crime reference number. So when those callers try to hassle me, I inform them that they’re violating the law and toss in that crime number, letting them know they’ll be added to my list. Not sure it truly makes a difference, but there's a peculiar satisfaction when they abruptly hang up.9 yearsReceived a call today, and I’ve had a few from this number in the past. They profess to represent BT and are going on about issues with my internet connection. They’re insisting that if I don’t respond to their demands, we could be left without service for as long as a fortnight and a bit! Quite suspicious, if you ask me.BT9 yearsGot a call this morning around 8:50, sounded like it was from Virgin. Didn’t bother answering, just blocked the number straight away!Virgin9 yearsReceived a call at 08:50 this morning.
