9 yearsI got a call from a man with an Asian accent who said he worked for my computer repair service. Then, out of nowhere, he started saying he was ringing on behalf of Microsoft. I just told him I don’t use a computer any more. This isn’t the first time I’ve had calls like this over the past few weeks.Microsoft10 yearsEarlier this week, I received a call from a supposed representative of Norton Security, who seemed to have taken a keen interest in my sluggish laptop. They had an alarming amount of personal information and managed to show me various faults on my device while I was using it. They claimed they couldn’t fix the issues directly and suggested I visit joinzoho.com, which I naively did. They even issued me a Norton ID to access their system. Having heard of Zoho previously, I didn’t question the legitimacy of their pitch, especially with their logo plainly displayed on my screen. They did manage to improve my PC's performance and installed a complimentary 360 Total Security software on it. At one point, they brought up the idea of upgrading to Windows 10, and to my shock, I witnessed it being downloaded onto my computer. However, when I powered it up today, the update had mysteriously disappeared. Foolishly, I ended up spending £225 on iTunes cards during the process. Initially, I thought Zoho was involved in the scam, but after a lengthy conversation with one of their representatives, it became apparent that they’re victims in this scheme as well. Please, don’t let yourself be fooled as I was. I can’t believe how easily I was taken in, and it’s left me feeling utterly foolish.Norton SecurityZohoiTunes10 yearsI got a call earlier today from this number but the connection was patchy as hell, which immediately set me on edge. The guy on the other end spoke with an Asian accent and claimed he was calling from BT. He even mentioned my email address, saying there was an issue with my broadband. I told him straight up he wasn’t from BT and that it was a dodgy scam, then told him to buzz off. Call ended there. What really winds me up though is that I’m ex-directory - how do these scammers get hold of my phone number in the first place?BT10 yearsGot a call from an Asian bloke who kept asking for me by name. When I said I was speaking, he didn’t seem to get it and asked again. I told him it was me at least three times, then he just hung up. Honestly, why can’t the authorities do something about these people?10 yearsHad a call claiming to be from BT saying my broadband was slowing down due to some corrupted files linked to my email address... sounded fishy to me!BT10 yearsI kept getting calls from this number for a few days and had no idea who it was. Finally blocked it and honestly, I’m relieved I did.10 yearsGot a call from a guy with an Asian accent, ranting about my internet security or something. I'm guessing their computer just goes through random numbers, especially since my number's unlisted. I've put a block on him now!10 yearsGot a call this morning at half past eight claiming to be Virgin Media, saying they could fix some dangerous stuff on my computer. I didn’t bother with it and just hung up right away.Virgin Media10 yearsGot two calls from the same number within ten minutes. They just paused briefly then ended the call right away.10 yearsGot a call just now from this number, some guy with an Asian accent pretending to be from Virgin Media, my internet provider. He’s been ringing me loads times using different stories. Today he said there was an issue with my broadband. I ended the call straight away and blocked the number - they’re likely trying to sneak in ransomware or something dodgy like that. Stay clear!Virgin Media10 yearsI’m stuck in bed feeling rubbish from cancer and on top of that, I’ve had about 4 annoying phone calls in just 30 minutes. Does anyone know legal ways to get these nuisance calls to stop? I swear, some thoughts I have about dealing with them wouldn't fly with the law. Silent calls really grind my gears just as much as the ones trying to scam you at least they chat. They must lead a dull existence. I've reported the whole thing to the police and got a crime reference number. Whenever I’m on a call with these pests, I tell them they're being illegal and mention the crime number, then warn they’re on the list. No idea if it actually works, but it's satisfying when they hang up sharply after that.10 yearsGot a call today, and they've ringed me a few times before as well. They say they're from BT about my internet. They told me if I don't do what they say, my internet could be cut off for like 15 days. Proper dodgy if you ask me.BT10 yearsGot a call this morning around 8:50, sounded like it was from Virgin.
