I really don’t get why folks bother calling back numbers they don’t know, especially with all these dodgy scam calls going around these days. If you know the number and who’s behind it, fair enough, ring them back. But otherwise, best just to leave it. These scammers keep at it 'cause they reckon someone will pick up eventually. Got a call just after tea time from a local number claiming they were doing a government-mandated check on energy plans. Funny thing is, they didn’t know how old I was, which seemed strange if they’re really working with the government. This morning at about quarter past ten, they gave me a ring. When I picked up and said hello, they just cut the call. Tried calling them back but no luck getting through. Honestly, their approach is rubbish - how do they expect to make any sales if they don’t actually talk to the person on the other end? It’s like their managers don’t know what they’re doing!

I reckon this is a total scam. Someone rang claiming to be from Warm House and said they were working with the government, offering a free energy efficiency check that usually costs £250. When I asked where they got my info and about the government connection, the young woman said it came from the Inland Revenue! Then, when I asked why the revenue would be interested in my home's energy savings, she couldn’t really explain. Honestly, they should find real jobs instead of wasting people’s time like this.

Received a call earlier claiming to be from some government dept about energy efficiency in my home. They rattled off my full name and address, which was a bit spooky. They asked when last time anyone came round to check for energy wastage. Then they said I could get more than £1000 off a new boiler and that someone would ring back in about five minutes. A bit later, my phone rang from a number that looked almost the same but not quite, so I just let it go to answerphone. Felt dodgy, like a scam or something.

They said my manager would ring back to confirm details. Today I got another call, they repeated all the info I gave them. But the moment I asked where I could find official info about this government scheme, the line just went dead.

Got a ring from this number today, some young woman with a UK accent claiming to be from the government asking my age group for a free energy check. Felt fishy to me, reminds me of those Talk Talk modem scammers who keep calling all the time. This number really should be blocked, I’m fed up of these muppets ringing me nearly every day with some new story. Can the phone companies please step up and shut these fraudsters down? Loads of innocent people get tricked, it’s so frustrating I’m thinking of ditching my mobile and internet. Hard to tell who’s legit now, I just don’t trust any random calls anymore.

Got a call today from a woman with a Scottish accent, mentioned it was an automated message and said no representatives were free to chat. She advised me to ring a number beginning with 0131, but I didn’t catch the full digits. When I tried calling 01244470967 (I hid my number), there was just silence on the other end. It would be really helpful if someone could share the full 0131 number so we can track down who’s behind this.

These are bogus calls from people claiming to be Talktalk employees, telling you that your modem or computer has heaps of viruses. They warn that if you don’t listen, they’ll remotely switch off your router. I’ve had about three or four calls like this, and each time they got more aggressive when I just ignored them.
