I just had an unsettling experience with a rather dubious cold caller sporting an Asian accent, masquerading as a representative from Curry's, and attempting to lure my wife into signing up for a so-called "affordable" mobile contract priced at £40 a month. On the 10th of June last year, my wife was bombarded with five calls in a mere 25 minutes from this persistent scammer. She had the sense to put the calls on speakerphone and clearly stated her disinterest before terminating the conversation. Astonishingly, each time she hung up, the same caller would ring back, seemingly adamant that she share her bank account details. Upon going through our call log, I noticed that the numbers were all spoofed and claimed to be from the following: - 01244 422028 - Nottingham Hall for Children - Masala Bowl, Wembley - Crystal Hall, London - H & C Aircon After the final call, my wife informed the caller that those numbers were fabricated, yet the scammer continued to press for her banking information. Honestly, you’d think they might possess a bit of common sense! I urge everyone to disregard cold calls, particularly since they're illegal if they're pretending to represent a UK firm, and under no circumstances should you divulge any personal information to unfamiliar callers.
