Two months back, there was a news article published, recounting the tale of a particular company. You can find it here: [URL] The story revolves around a company that has gained infamy as the "worst phone pest" in Britain. This business is said to be responsible for inundating people with six million cold calls each day. The main irony here is that the company's purpose is to discuss the issue of nuisance calls, but in actuality, it is adding to the problem.

A couple of years back, this so-called legit business managed to con my elderly mum out of £65 for a rubbish gadget that ironically stopped us from ringing her landline. I'm still fighting to get that money back, and it's looking like small claims court is the only option now. If these cheeky lot get in touch with you, just give them what for. Oh, and here's the kicker - they ring you up pretending to help block marketing calls, but the call itself is a marketing one, breaking TPS rules and all that. Bit dodgy, isn't it? Might even be straight-up illegal.

I recently came across a company that is known for scamming innocent people, including my own elderly mother. They managed to deceive her and convince her to pay £65 for a useless device that they claimed would prevent unwanted calls to her home phone. It's been a couple of years since the incident and I'm still doing my best to help her get a refund. Unfortunately, it seems like we might have to take legal action by contacting Small Claims. If anyone comes across these dishonest individuals, please let them know what you think of their actions. By the way, it's quite ironic (or possibly even illegal) that this company claims to stop marketing calls while engaging in marketing calls themselves, clearly going against the rules set by TPS and others.

Please refrain from responding. In the event that you request the individual's banking information, the conversation should be terminated immediately. By doing so, they will become aware that you are aware of their scam.

A person named Laura introduced herself during the call and, upon inquiry, stated that she represented the Cold Call Elimination Company. She added a laugh afterwards.

I fell victim to a scam phone call back on 16th May 2015. The person who claimed to be Craig sounded quite trustworthy, but he crossed the line when he requested my bank information. Out of caution, I immediately hung up the phone.

He claimed that he could put an end to all bothersome phone calls for a price of ?? per month. At that moment, I politely declined his offer. Thus, the call came to an end.

Lately, I've been receiving about a couple of calls daily from someone asking for a Mr Dring - no idea who that is. Each time, I keep telling them it's the wrong number and to take us off their list. Today, the person on the phone claimed they work for a call blocking company and offered to stop the calls for £2 a month. Sounds like a total rip-off to me. I’m thinking of reporting it to the TPS, though not sure it’ll do much good.

She received a call from someone who asked for her bank details, which she provided. They claimed that they could prevent any further calls. Clearly, this is a scam that needs to be halted. The person on the phone identified themselves as a man, but a woman answered.

Got a call from a bloke who said his firm noticed we were getting loads of nuisance calls. When I asked for his name, he just said, "the one who's hanging up on you" and then he cut me off straight away!

I received a call and was asked if it was true that I had been receiving a large number of unwanted calls. In response, I inquired about the caller's identity and he boldly claimed to be "the one hanging up on you"! Quite suspicious, I must say!

A few months ago, a similar incident occurred to me. I received advice to report it, and fortunately, the fraud squad took an interest in the case. Unfortunately, it seems that history is repeating itself as it happened again today. I must say, I am feeling very frustrated!

I received a phone call from this particular number, during which the person on the other end mentioned that they were aware I had filed a complaint regarding the issue of receiving annoying phone calls. I informed them that this was actually the first time someone had contacted me regarding this matter. I also mentioned that my number is registered with TPS (Telephone Preference Service) and that I have personally blocked several numbers myself. After relaying this information, the caller appeared to become uninterested and terminated the conversation.

A male voice mentioned that I had made a complaint about receiving many annoying and unwanted phone calls. I clarified that I hadn't reported any such matter, and furthermore, I wasn't a victim of such calls. He responded by saying, "Well, aren't you fortunate," and abruptly ended the call!

By discontinuing their telephone calls, individuals would actively contribute to putting a stop to bothersome calls. While we are well aware that these calls are against the law, there seems to be a lack of enforcement in preventing them. It is advisable to contact your Member of Parliament or Ofcom to address this issue. Embracing the uncharacteristically British habit of making louder complaints would also be beneficial.

I just received a call from them as well. I had previously filed a complaint against them on the TPS website. The salesperson was extremely aggressive, constantly interrupting me. It is against the law to contact numbers that are registered with TPS, as stated in the EU Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive of 2003. When dealing with cold callers, remember to inform them that they are violating the law by dialling your number. You can say something like, "You are breaking the law by calling this number. Can I please speak with your supervisor? Have you ever heard of TPS?" Let's stand up and fight against this, folks!

At approximately 5:30 pm, we received a phone call. The caller claimed to be from BT and informed us about a new method they had implemented to block cold calling. The individual, who introduced herself as Taylor, offered to block the calls for a fee of £89.00 for a duration of three years, thereafter providing the service for free. "Can we have your credit card number now to proceed?" they asked. However, doubts arose as to the legitimacy of the call. It appeared to us as a possible criminal scam, and we believe that appropriate measures should be taken in response.

Proposing a solution to ward off unwanted cold calls at a monthly fee of £1.91 for a duration of 3 years, after which the service would be provided free of charge. An interesting thought here would be for these companies to refrain from making cold calls themselves.

Received an unexpected phone call from this company tonight. They identified themselves as Cold Call Elimination and claimed to be able to put a box on your telephone line to stop annoying calls. Irony of ironies, their own call was a cold call!

I received a phone call from someone claiming they could assist me in blocking nuisance calls. I informed them that I am registered on the Telephone Preference Service and since I did not solicit their call, they were in fact a nuisance themselves. Subsequently, they abruptly ended the conversation and hung up.
