Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would deal with this kind of pestering.

A couple of years back, this so-called legit business managed to con my elderly mum out of £65 for a rubbish gadget that ironically stopped us from ringing her landline. I'm still fighting to get that money back, and it's looking like small claims court is the only option now. If these cheeky lot get in touch with you, just give them what for. Oh, and here's the kicker - they ring you up pretending to help block marketing calls, but the call itself is a marketing one, breaking TPS rules and all that. Bit dodgy, isn't it? Might even be straight-up illegal.

A few years back, my elderly mum got tricked by what they claimed was a legit firm, spending £65 on a pointless gadget that supposedly stopped our family from ringing her landline. Still fighting to get that cash back, and it looks like Small Claims might be the only way forward. If you ever get a ring from these muppets, just give them a piece of your mind. Oh, and get this - they ring up saying they’re there to block marketing calls… but it turns out their call *is* a marketing call, breaking all sorts of rules like the TPS. Lately, I've been receiving about a couple of calls daily from someone asking for a Mr Dring - no idea who that is. Each time, I keep telling them it's the wrong number and to take us off their list. Today, the person on the phone claimed they work for a call blocking company and offered to stop the calls for £2 a month. Sounds like a total rip-off to me. I’m thinking of reporting it to the TPS, though not sure it’ll do much good.

somebody rang me up saying they were aware i'd been getting loads of annoying calls, from silent ones to those from call centres. they claimed everyone in prescot had been targeted and they were trying to call to put a stop to it. but when i asked how they knew i'd had so many, they just ended the call straight away. just like that?? can anyone tell me who that was?

If these calls just ceased, it would honestly help cut down on all the annoying nuisance calls. Everyone knows these calls break the law, but no one ever does anything to actually put a stop to them. Maybe it's time we start making some noise - ring up your MP, get in touch with Ofcom, and get used to good old-fashioned complaining. The more we shout about it, the better chance something’ll change.

They just rang me as well, so I lodged a complaint through the TPS site. The salesman kept interrupting me and was super forceful. Calling numbers on the TPS list is against the law (Telephone Preference Service) - it’s part of the EU’s 2003 regulations on electronic communications and privacy. Next time you get one of these calls, remind them: “You’re actually breaking the law by ringing this number…” and ask “Can I talk to your manager?” or “Do you know about the TPS?” We’ve got to stand up to these cold callers!

Around 5:30pm, we got a phone ringing from someone claiming to be from BT. This woman, who said her name was Taylor, told us they were trying out a new way to stop unwanted sales calls. She said they'd block these calls for £89, which would cover three years, and after that it'd be free. Then she asked for our credit card details to sort it straight away. When we asked if she was really from BT, she insisted she was. Seems dodgy to me, like some kind of scam. Someone needs to step in and investigate this.

This evening, I got a random call from someone claiming to be from Cold Call Elimination. They told me they could stop all those annoying nuisance calls by installing a device on your phone line. Funny thing is, the call they made to me was a cold call too!
