They said they were from some building inspection firm and that the council had given them my info. I'm having some work done at the moment and they asked if it was still happening. Seemed possible but I was a bit wary since my builders hadn’t mentioned anything about it.

Just got a call from these folks, and it wasn’t the only number they dialled for me. Proper annoying, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked them now.

Hi, At first when IPS rang me I assumed it was just another annoying cold call I didn’t want to bother with, but I answered anyway. The sceptic in me thought, alright, this sounds too good to be true, so what’s the catch? How much will it cost me? Turns out, it’s free and since then the annoying calls have stopped completely. A few days back, Theo rang me from IPS saying my name and number were on a list of people getting loads of nuisance calls. She offered to help stop them and said I could sign up for free. I agreed to register with them but declined their partner offers. Since then, I got a message from IPS and a couple from TPS and MPS. The calls have definitely eased off - used to get over 10 a day, but only 3 came through yesterday.

Somebody called saying they were from the TPS but used the wrong name for me. They told me I wasn’t on the TPS register. I told them the call was against the rules and that they were bothering me, which they didn’t like. They said the call was recorded and threatened to report me to the police! I blocked the number and just confirmed with TPS that my number is definitely on their list.

Someone just rang me claiming to be from a government department. When I asked why they were calling out of the blue, they said they were trying to safeguard my info and would delete it straight away if I agreed. A man rang up claiming he was with a company that spotted I was on some sort of cold calling list. He said he could help stop those calls. I told him I already block any unknown numbers straight away and wasn’t interested. He asked why not, and I just said no thanks. He kept going on but I said goodbye and ended the call. He said his name was Tony and talked pretty smoothly. Claimed they were government registered and wanted to offer a free service to block all scam calls to my phone and stop junk mail at my place, I said no thanks. Funny thing is, they already knew my surname!
