11 monthsGot a call from a number flagged as likely spam. It was some guy called Maurice claiming to work for Thames Water’s Home Cover. He told me my plumbing and drainage cover was about to run out and offered a discounted deal. I naively gave him my sort code and account info. Later, I realised my actual cover is with Home Serve, not Home Cover, which confused me at first. When I questioned Maurice, he said they'd taken over Home Serve and that customer service would be in touch to confirm the new direct debit. After googling the number and reading the reviews, I got suspicious. Then a bloke named Ashley rang back to confirm the details, but I told him I didn’t want to go ahead since Maurice seemed dodgy. Ashley got a bit defensive, but I said this felt like a scam and insisted they delete my info. He wasn’t pleased but said he’d cancel the policy. I’m definitely watching my bank account closely for any unexpected payments now.MauriceThames WaterHome CoverHome ServeAshley11 monthsGot a call just earlier, said they were from Welsh Water but sounded a bit off. Tried to get some info from me about my account, which made me a bit suspicious. Definitely wouldn’t trust them straight away. If it’s really Welsh Water, they’d have your details already and wouldn’t need to ask like that, right? Just be careful if you get a call like this!Welsh Water11 monthsI didn't pick up as I didn't know the number. Checked the comments here and saw others had issues too, so I ended up blocking it. They've called me a few times before. I'm based in South Wales.South Wales11 monthsThis time they claimed that Severn Trent was linked with Home Cover. I’ve never had any dealings with Home Cover or handed them a penny!Severn TrentHome Cover11 monthsJust like others here have said, these folks are super convincing. My call was supposedly from Affinity Water this time around. Honestly, it's really horrible how they manage to trick people like this.Affinity Water11 monthsI got a call from someone claiming to be with Home Cover, said it was run by Southern Water, and they told me my Direct Debit for plumbing cover was being lowered this year. But to get the new price, I had to give them my bank account number and sort code. Three different people came on the line trying to "calm me down"... then the last one mentioned some supposed one-off payment I’d made three years back - that’s when I just knew it was dodgy. They stayed on the phone for about 15 minutes, speaking very politely and sounding convincing, but something felt off. It instantly reminded me of those Rav Wilding "Scam Interceptors" episodes. I’ve never once been asked to update a Direct Debit by phone before, so that’s when I really suspected it was a con. Absolute garbage they’re spewing...Home CoverSouthern WaterDirect DebitRav11 monthsGot a call flagged as spam, from someone claiming to be with Home Cover UK. They told me I supposedly paid for drainage insurance via Welsh Water three years ago, but that they were now stopping the payments as a lump sum. Thing is, I don’t remember ever paying Welsh Water for anything like that. When I asked why they were only just ringing now if it was sorted three years back, they went quiet. I asked them to post me the details, and they said they already had, but then said the post office must’ve lost it and refused to send anything else through the post. They couldn't clearly say whether the policy had expired or was up for renewal after all this time. I told them I was ending the call because it all sounded fishy, so I hung up. Then they rang straight back to ask why I’d cut them off. Proper odd experience.Home Cover UKWelsh Water11 monthsGot a call marked as probable spam so I ignored it, no voicemail was left either.Submit Your Own Report (01243 256458)
