We got a call on our home phone from 01241 333034, probably last week, but we didn't jot down anything. Just a heads up, if someone rings saying they're from the TPS and asks you to verify your registration or demands payment, it’s a total scam. TPS registration is free and you don’t need to confirm or pay anything over the phone! It’s baffling how these scammers keep getting away with this stuff. Something really should be done to stop them from ripping people off.

This number has been ringing me multiple times daily for the past week. They keep saying they’re from some telephone preference service and ask for my debit card info, which I never gave them. They’re really pushy and even called me two more times within just 30 minutes. I just ignore the calls now and use 147 before calling back. Feels like some call centre trying the same old tricks. My dad’s 90 and while I was visiting, his phone rang four times in just three hours from the same number. He’s a bit slow to answer, so by the time he picks up there’s silence and he just hangs up. I get calls from that number too and always do the same. It annoys me that the phone companies never seem to block these calls - maybe they’re making good money from them or something!

Hey, you should grab a BT call blocking phone - it only lets calls from people in your contacts ring through. I bet it drives those nuisance callers mad, cause they try using loads of different phone numbers but none get past! Proper funny, really.

I got calls from this number like 7 times in just one day, saying they were from some phone preference management service. They kept asking for my card info, which was a big red flag. I’ve blocked the number, but weirdly enough, I've been getting almost the same calls from different numbers in the past few weeks. Got a call from this number, saying it was the Telephone Preference Service. They rang me nine times yesterday and then four times today, so I finally picked up thinking it might be something important. I told them I've got police tracking on my phone because of all the nuisance calls I get. As soon as I said that, they just hung up on me. In just a couple of weeks, I've had three separate numbers ring me up. It's absolutely driving me mad. I've even told my mates and relatives not to use my landline anymore, worried they might catch me in a bad mood and start swearing at them. Got a call from someone pretending to be TPS with an Asian accent. They got quite annoyed when I didn’t play along. I kept them talking for about 45 mins while I got on with stuff. They kept asking for my card’s expiry date, then the month, then some code on the card. Honestly, I don’t see how they could have actually blagged any money from me!

I really think the phone companies need to get serious about stopping these scams. Even with call blockers, these crooks just pick up local area codes for next to nothing and rotate their numbers constantly, so they sneak past the blockers. What I’ve started doing is blocking whole area codes altogether, but obviously that means I miss legit calls too, which is a pain.

01242 calling from Abroath? Don’t think so. Lately, they’ve been ringing from all sorts of places, like Gretna. I’m not sure if they actually get these numbers or if they’re just faking the caller ID. Either way, I’ve put it straight on block with Call Protect. Fingers crossed it helps get the number blacklisted everywhere once enough people report it.

My husband got pretty annoyed and swore a bit too, which is understandable since he’s disabled and it’s hard for him to even answer the phone.
