Got a call at 12:30 in the morning! Luckily my home phone has caller blocking, so it stopped the call before I heard a thing. Neither my mobile nor landline are shared with anyone and both are on the TPS list, so I’m certain it was a dodgy scam. When I get similar calls from Carphone Warehouse on my mobile, I usually tell them the police have been informed and the call is being tracked since they’re doing something illegal.

Got a call on my home phone around 8:30am on 14/01/22. It was a woman with a really thick foreign accent saying she was from Openreach. I told her I wasn’t involved with them at all. Then she switched to saying it was about my mobile and some kind of attempted access. I just ended the call straight away.

Got a call on my personal mobile from someone trying to push a mobile phone sale. I said I wasn’t interested and requested they take my number off their list. They flat out refused. When I asked for their Data Protection Officer’s contact as per GDPR rules, they just told me it was ‘company policy’ not to share that info. Then I asked to speak with a manager, who ended up trying to sell me the phone again. When I said no, he accused me of wasting his colleague’s time - I pointed out I never called them! Asked for the DPO details again, and then they just hung up on me. Definite scam.

Someone rang saying they were from mobiles.co.uk and kept pushing me to tell them my phone make and model to give me a better upgrade deal. I told them I’d just got a new phone and wasn’t looking for anything, but they kept insisting and even tried to tempt me by saying they’d pay off my current contract if I switched. It all seemed a bit dodgy, so I just said no thanks and hung up.
