Heating scam alert - they keep saying “if you’re on benefits, you qualify.” They ring me almost every day, sometimes multiple times in one day. Blocking doesn’t work since they keep switching numbers or using ones they’ve bought. They’re getting careless now though, this last number is actually familiar.

Why doesn’t BT do anything about it? They’re the ones selling these numbers, that’s why. Honestly, they deserve to be shut down completely.

Honestly, if you get a call from a number you don’t recognise, don’t bother calling back. My mum-in-law got caught out once and they told her to press 9 - bad move! Doing that just hooks you up to a pricey international line to Zambia, and your phone bill ends up through the roof. Plus, your phone can freeze on that call. These scam folks really deserve to be locked up somewhere far away with no way out, just left without a thing. Stay sharp out there!

They rang me again, but this time from another number, asking if anyone living here gets benefits. I said no, and then they went on asking if any family members do. I just hung up. My answerphone’s full of calls like this lately.

Found this number in my missed calls and thought it might be someone from Devon, where some of my mates live, so I phoned back. Got nothing but that automated voice saying "The caller is not accepting calls right now," just like what others have mentioned. Seems like another scam that’s dodging the TPS and using BT numbers.
