Got a call from an Indian bloke saying he could sort out my Microsoft Windows issue on my pc. He kept getting more frustrated when I said nothing was happening on my end (I wasn’t clicking anything). Eventually, I told him off for speaking to me like I’m dumb and said I’m on a Mac anyway, so just leave me alone.

Another classic scam. They want you to turn off your computer system so they can then threaten you for payment to ‘repair’ it. Whenever I get calls like this, I say my lad handles the computer. They usually hang about for ages, sometimes up to 20 minutes, which shows they’re probably not very skilled scammers. The clever ones don’t wait as long. At least it means they ain’t hassling someone more gullible.

Hung up straight away. Just disturbed my poorly husband just after nine. We're registered with the TPS. Honestly, it's about time the people running these so-called "businesses" got fined themselves. If they're overseas and using dodgy routing numbers, why is it so hard to block them for good?

They just rang me - I was on the lookout since this number’s popped up loads on my phone and seemed dodgy. A bloke with a heavy foreign accent answered and mentioned something about a ‘computer’. I use a BT phone that lets me block certain numbers from ringing again. Not sure if these scammers just switch to another number to call back, but they sure are tricky. There’s one pretending to ring from an Abingdon landline but actually calling from India. No clue how they pull it off, but I remember chatting to one of these types years ago when I was using Linux. It was pretty funny to mess with them a bit!

Got a call from some Indian bloke saying my computer was hacked by someone else and asking for the IP address so they could figure out who did it. Lucky for me, my dad (he's in his 70s) sniffed it out as a con and told them a family member would sort it, then just hung up. These scumbags now targeting the elderly and naive is just wrong. We’re a firm with around 30 staff and these scammers have been bothering us non-stop for days. Whenever I spot their number, I just pick up saying “Hello, Microsoft support, how may I assist?” and they usually hang up straight away. Problem is they also call from a 0203 number - when I get that, I’ll report it too. My tip? Just hang up straight away, don’t engage as they can get quite rude. Always report the numbers here and under no circumstances let them access your computer.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying there was a major problem with my Windows security. I told him he was talking nonsense and he just cut the call. Seems like they’re getting more desperate, coz he’d called earlier when I wasn't home!

there was a bit of a pause before the caller spoke, sounded like Peter with an asian accent, claiming to be from Microsoft tech support. ended up just hanging up right away.

Thanks so much for the comments on here. Got a call on my landline and wasn’t sure who it was at first. I just said ‘hello’ and if they took too long to reply, I hung up - and that’s what happened. I dialled 1471, got the number, then looked it up on this site and I’m really pleased I didn’t keep the call going. I wish I knew how to block calls on a landline though, definitely gonna find out how to do that.

A guy with an Asian accent called claiming to be from Microsoft. There was a tiny pause right after I answered my landline with a "hello." Then he asked if I knew someone was trying to hack my computer. I told him to jog on and quickly ended the call. Weirdly enough, "Microsoft" never bothered to call back. So grateful for shows like Rip Off Britain and Watchdog, plus all those mags that keep warning about these nasty scammers.

Received a call today from this number and when I informed the caller that I don’t possess a computer, he promptly ended the call. The chap had an Asian accent. Clearly a scamcaller. It’s about time these individuals faced legal action!

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying they were from Microsoft. They claimed my Windows PC had been hacked - obvious scam. I told him straight up and warned that I was starting a reverse lookup on his number and he’d better close up shop ASAP.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was checking my computer for problems. I told him I was going to report him, and then he just hung up on me. Quite rude, really!

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming he was from Microsoft. Said they spotted some weird activity on my PC and asked if I could switch it on so he could fix it. Told him I couldn’t because it wasn’t my computer. He wanted to know whose it was, so I said ‘Fred’. Then he asked where Fred was and when he’d be back, but I had no idea.

Undoubtedly a ploy of the dubious kind. I found myself with a rare moment to spare and thought, why not? I decided to play along for a bit. I acted as if I was logging onto the computer in response to his prompts (spoiler alert: I wasn’t, and we don’t even own a Windows machine). Then he quizzed me on whether others use the computer. When I mentioned it was a family device, I could almost hear the glee in his voice rise. I made sure to record our chat, and when I asked him for a moment to seek assistance, he became noticeably flustered, insisting I should simply adhere to his directions. So, I put him on hold, feigning a call to someone else. Eventually, my patience waned, and I hung up, promptly blocking that number.

Some bloke called saying he was from Microsoft, claiming my PC was being hacked as soon as I logged on. Luckily, I've dealt with this nonsense before so I hung up after a bit. What really got me was when he tried to sell me some scam and clearly didn’t know a thing about Microsoft security - actually asked if I meant “McAfee”? That’s when I lost my cool and gave him an earful, telling him off quite colourful and telling him to jog on while imagining him pissing himself. No way I’m polite to folks just trying to scam me out of my cash.
