I got a call around 8:46 in the morning, claiming that my broadband was under attack and being accessed by an unauthorised individual. The chap on the line insisted I should hop onto my computer to address the issue. I quickly piped up, saying, "I find that hard to believe! I recognised the number, as I had received a similar call just the other week from someone claiming to be associated with Virgin Media, who alarmingly suggested my broadband was compromised. The person on the line couldn't even confirm my name, citing data protection regulations as an excuse. It’s shocking how these individuals operate; they clearly lack any sense of ethics and are nothing short of a nuisance.

a woman with an indian accent called claiming to be from virgin’s tech support. she told me there were six unauthorised connections using my internet. she even knew my name and that I was with virgin media, so it seems like they’ve leaked some customer info. she asked me to assist her in blocking these accounts, warning me that my internet would be cut off for a week if i didn’t cooperate. i didn’t give her any personal details. she was strangely polite and seemed to understand the tech side pretty well. shame, she could probably do better with a proper job.

I got a call from an Emily who said she was with Virgin Media’s Security Team, telling me there was suspicious activity on my internet. I asked her to prove it by giving me my IP address, but she couldn’t. When I pointed out how dodgy it sounded, she quickly threatened me saying I’d be liable for any damage if I didn’t act. She was definitely reading from some well-rehearsed script, so I reckon loads of people who aren’t as tech savvy might get tricked by this.

Virgin Media called me saying that someone was using my internet without permission. They asked me to go to validator.w3.org and type in www.virginmedia.com, saying it would show errors from my router. But it just showed errors on Virgin Media’s website, nothing to do with my router at all. Then they tried to get me to install TeamViewer so they could access my computer remotely, which is a big no-no. When I said I knew what TeamViewer was, they just hung up and rudely accused me of wasting their time!

Got a call from someone claiming to be Virgin Tech Support, saying there was an issue with my broadband. Thought it sounded dodgy, so I put her to the test by asking a few questions to check if she was legit. She gave me some lame explanation with a long number, trying to convince me it was my ID. I told her if she was really from Virgin Tech Support, she’d know my actual customer number. Then she just ended the call.

Got a call on my landline at about 7.45am this morning, some guy saying he was from Virgin Media (but I checked and their call centres don’t start till 8am). He said there was an issue with my router and they were gonna drop my speed. Told him Virgin Media came out late last year 'cause of interference and sorted it, plus I’ve not had any emails, letters, or calls from them about any problems since. After that, he just hung up on me.

I received a call from 0802 on the 2nd of February. I didn't utter a word, and the line went completely silent. When I tried to return the call, I was met with a message stating, "Service not available at present." Definitely a scam! I’ve found that when faced with an unfamiliar number, it’s often best to keep quiet; most of the time, the scammers will simply cut the line. Occasionally, I play along and throw in a few security queries to see their reaction-unsurprisingly, they never respond! If I keep probing, they usually hang up on me. It’s rather amusing to waste their time for a change!

Got a call from someone saying they were Virgin Media, told me someone was trying to hack my internet. When I said no and wouldn't log into my device, the bloke just hung up. Then, within a couple minutes, a "supervisor" called back asking why I wouldn’t cooperate. Kept pushing me to log into my laptop and said he could show ID to prove he was legit. I just kept saying no and finally ended the call, telling them I’d report it myself if anything went wrong.

I had a rather dubious phone call earlier from someone claiming to be with Virgin Technical Support. She mentioned that there were issues with my internet connection. I immediately got suspicious and decided to quiz her a bit to verify her identity. Unfortunately, her responses included some convoluted nonsense about a lengthy number that supposedly confirmed who I was. I then challenged her, saying that if she truly represented Virgin, she'd know my customer ID off the top of her head. Unsurprisingly, she promptly ended the call. Classic scam tactics, really!

The person on the other end was a woman, and her accent seemed to suggest she was from an Asian background. When I requested her to clarify her statements, she abruptly ended the call. Later, at around 8:40 this morning on the 2nd of February, the same number tried to reach me again, but upon my picking up, they hung up once more.

They tried to scare me by asking me to open eventviewer, then wanted me to install Teamviewer so they could control my PC.
