There was this lady, sounded foreign, and had some sort of fake office sounds playing in the background. She wanted to speak to the house owner by name. She kept asking who was on the line but got no answer from me. After a few tries with no response, they just ended the call.

Twice now, I've had calls from 02135 355102 and I reckon it's one of those H M R C scam things. Funny enough, while I was writing this, a call landed from 02045 711727 telling me my washing machine contract expired - which makes no sense since I don't even have a contract like that. Pretty sure this was a scam too.

There was a long pause and I could hear some muffled voices in the background. Eventually a quiet "Hello" came through, then the call just got cut off. I suppose my slightly annoyed "Hello" probably made them think I wasn’t too happy about getting a call out of the blue.

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC about a PPI refund, asking if I preferred payment straight to my bank or by cheque. I knew right away it was a dodgy scam, so I said I'd go for a cheque. Then they asked for my bank info, but I told them no way, if it’s a cheque they don’t need that. After that, they just cut me off.

This number rang me and as expected, it was the typical scam call. You could tell straight away it was one of those auto dialers because I could hear the noise from a call centre in the background. They really should learn to keep their phones on mute! I just answered but stayed quiet for about four seconds, didn’t say a thing, and they ended up hanging up. They obviously don’t want to spend their time on calls that aren’t gonna make them any money. So obvious!

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent, said he was from Domestic and General offering a refund of £119 for overpaying on a washing machine. He asked for my card details but only gave me the last four numbers, which didn’t match mine at all. When we asked for the email on the account, he refused, saying he wasn’t authorised. Then he rattled off Hotpoint as the make and model, which is totally wrong. This has to be a scam, folks. Don’t hand over your info, and if you have, contact your bank quick! This kind of thing is just awful and they should feel proper guilty!

I got a call from a lady saying she was going to help me get a tax refund from HMRC. When I kept asking her how she was able to do that, she just ended the call. A couple days earlier, my husband had a very similar call but from a bloke who started asking for personal info. Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

Got a call from a guy named John claiming he was sorting out a refund for my PPI. He asked for my phone number, the bank’s name, and a reference number. He kept saying he didn’t need any card details or other info. I haven’t told the bank about this call - gonna wait till they confirm if it’s legit. I ended up not giving him anything and just ended the call. To be honest, the PPI was meant to be from back in 2008, and I doubt I’d be eligible for any refund from that time.
