Got a call from a woman with a really heavy Indian accent claiming she was from O2, saying my number had been picked for a 30% discount. I thanked her and mentioned I'd wait to see if my next bill reflected it. She started repeating the last few digits of my phone but before I could respond again, she just cut off the call. The number was from the Bedford region and it was blocked - seems like a classic scam trying to waste time.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with O2 offering to cut my contract bill by 30% if I passed over a code they’d supposedly sent me to switch providers. Thing is, I’m on pay as you go and not planning to move. When I asked if he thought it was right to try and trick me like that, he just ended the call.

A while ago a cheerful bloke rang me claiming he was from O2, the number on my phone was 1234923781. He said I’d been picked in their Christmas prize draw and needed to verify the last digits of my mobile number. Supposedly, they would then deduct a fee from my monthly O2 bill. I didn’t fall for it and told him I thought it was a con before hanging up. Of course, I blocked the number right away and came straight here to double check.
