I got a call from someone using my old married name, which I haven’t used for like a decade. When I asked who they were, they claimed to be from the NHS. I questioned why the NHS would be calling me from Bedford though, and they said it was some international number related to Covid-19. I asked again why the NHS would ring me from a local 01 number in Bedford, and they kept going on about Covid. After that, I just told them to stop wasting my time with their scam and they hung up.

I’m hard of hearing and the caller had quite a thick accent, so I had to ask him a couple of times where he was calling from. Eventually, he said it was about NHS Covid-19 and asked if I’d had my vaccinations. Surely the NHS would already know this info without needing to ask me? When I questioned why he needed to know, he just ended the call. I honestly believe phone providers should step up and block these sorts of calls more effectively. I signed up to the TPS not long ago but it hasn't changed a thing for me.

After that, he went quiet and ended the call.

Every day without missing a beat, I get calls from loads of different numbers that look dodgy, and if I pick up, they just drop the call straight away. When I ring back, sometimes it just keeps ringing and never picks up, or it tells me the number’s not valid. Occasionally, I do get through, and it’s usually some bloke from abroad trying to get me to ‘clear some debt,’ or someone pretending to be from my bank. There was even one time they claimed to be from the NHS!

It’s astonishing that these charlatans can roam free while the authorities are quick to clamp down on young offenders slinging drugs on the corner. Why on earth aren’t they being tracked down and dealt with? It’s quite infuriating that the police seem to focus on the small fry while these dodgy scoundrels continue their shifty antics!

I received a call from someone claiming to be with the Citizens Advice Bureau, offering assistance with my financial issues. The bloke was quite pompous and dismissive when I inquired about how he had come by my personal information concerning debts. He started talking about a government programme to help with high-interest repayments, but I don't actually have any debt that earns interest-so it was clear he was talking nonsense. As soon as he opened his mouth, my instincts were on high alert. Just a heads up-stay sharp, as these cheeky scoundrels will stop at nothing to pull a fast one!
