There was a lengthy silence before they asked if I was who they thought. Then they claimed to be from the Telephone Preference Service, offering to stop all my nuisance calls (how would they even know which ones?). I told them no thanks, I manage that myself anyway. I’ve never had anyone from TPS reach out to me before, even though I signed up ages ago. I find calls like that really fishy.

Sounds dodgy to me - they said they were from HMRC and threatened legal trouble if I didn’t comply. Definitely feels like a scam.
