Received a call claiming that £600 had been transferred overseas from my credit card. There were options to press: 1 for ‘yes, it’s me’ and 2 for ‘no, it’s not’. Naturally, I opted for 2, but then I was greeted by an automated voice in an American accent, asking me to wait for a representative, accompanied by some rather cheerful piano music - The Minute Waltz, if I’m not mistaken. Just as I was settling in, the line went dead. I’ve a strong suspicion this number belongs to a fax machine.
