It seems that some unscrupulous individuals attempted to deceive my 86-year-old mother by claiming she was eligible for some sort of emergency alert necklace and bracelet designed for seniors. Regrettably, she did hand over her card details but was clever enough to ring me right after, allowing me to halt any further transactions. The following day, those vile perpetrators tried contacting her again, and she had the good sense to hang up. When I called their number, an American-accented voice greeted me, asking if I wished to opt out of their mailing list or speak with a 'supervisor,' only to disconnect the call abruptly. Truly despicable behaviour from these con artists!

I received a rather alarming call the other day directed at my 85-year-old mother, from someone with a thick foreign accent. They were trying to convince her that they would be sending her an emergency button for her neck. Thankfully, I’ve always advised her to be cautious and not divulge any personal information over the phone, so she wisely hung up. She certainly didn’t ask for, nor does she need, such a device. It's crucial to make sure our older family members are vigilant about scams like this!
