Got a call on my landline, some automated voice with an American accent. Then I got a voicemail from a bloke named David Miller, sounded like he spoke with an Asian accent. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Got a call from this number claiming to have all my mate's info - name, address and asking about some tax debt. I had a chat with the guy, who said his name was David Smith, but with a noticeable Asian accent, which was odd. He gave me an HMRC ID like hm§6624 and threw out a random case number - total nonsense. When I started asking him proper questions and raised my voice a bit, he kept interrupting me. Eventually, when he couldn’t answer, he just hung up on me. Don't fall for this scam!

some bloke called me called harry wilson, sounded asian, claiming he was from hmrc and said i’m being investigated for dodgy taxes or something and there’s an arrest warrant out for me! he told me to ring him back quick before things get messy!!! honestly, that’s rubbish, just ignore it, block the number and move on.

Harry Wilson here, my reference number's hm56224 just like before! So when I told them to just arrest me, they said I owed some weird amount like £4.62 or something, which left me really confused.

Got this weird voice message claiming I'm being investigated for tax evasion. Total nonsense if you ask me.

Got a recorded call from an American-sounding voice saying I was being looked into by HMRC for tax dodging or something. The call just cut off right after the message ended. I’m not bothered by it at all, but I can see how an older or more vulnerable person might get really stressed out. These scammers are absolute idiots, and I can’t understand why the police or government agencies like Ofgem can’t trace a proper landline number.

My mother-in-law, who's quite elderly, got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC saying there was a warrant for her arrest. The person on the phone had an Asian accent and said their name was Angela. When she rang back, they picked up saying they were from HMRC but hung up right after she questioned them. Definitely a number to block.
