I got a call from a bloke named Alex Occonner - he actually spelled it out for me, which was nothing like the usual Irish-sounding O’Connor I was expecting. He rang using a Barnsley number and spoke with a sort of southern African accent. He said he was calling on behalf of the Traffic Bureau for the ABI (Association of British Insurers), checking up on my ongoing injury claim from a road accident to make sure everything was handled right. Thing is, he completely messed up the date of my accident - off by almost two months! Plus, he got my house number wrong in my little cul-de-sac, even though there’s only one postcode for all the houses there. On top of that, he gave me a really weird website address for the ABI, mixing up both .co.uk and .org in the same link trying to prove he was legit. It all felt a bit dodgy to me.
