Got a call from someone claiming to be with Medical Alert, saying they’d got my details from the police. Don’t fall for it, he was a real smooth talker with a proper sales spiel. Watch out, it’s definitely a scam.

Today, 28th June 2022, at about 2:43pm, I got a call from this number, 01226 666831. The guy on the other end was saying I might qualify for one of those medical alert pendants. As soon as he asked if I was over 50, I just hung up. The voice sounded exactly like some chap who used to call me all the time about upgrading my home insulation - pretty sure it's the same person. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

Got a call about a medical alert pendant, said I could get one free because I’m eligible, and that it works with a SIM card. I looked it up on Google afterwards and loads of people say it’s a typical scam. When I started asking more questions, the line just got cut off suddenly.

Got a call from 01226666831, where a bloke called John said I might be eligible for a free medical alert. He sounded really friendly and calm, which made me feel at ease. But you never know with these things, lots of folks just trying to scam you. It’s so easy to get drawn into stuff like that without realising.

After years of hardly any calls, my phone started getting spammed by Shell Energy, apparently linked to the Post Office. Seems like Shell passed my info around because now the nuisance calls happen almost every day. The other day, some bloke called himself “JOHN” claiming my name was picked for a free alert bracelet. I asked him to confirm the name, and he just hung up on me! “JOHN” sure seems lazy if you ask me. Might be worth seeing if your phone company is selling off your details and switching if they are!

I got a call from someone calling himself 'John' claiming to be from some 'Medical Alert Centre'. Since I have older family members, I tuned in briefly worried someone might be unwell, but as usual, it turned out to be a scammer pushing some pendant deal. Had a call yesterday from someone pushing a medical alert pendant, they rang my parents who seemed a bit interested at first. Thankfully, I answered today and it was obvious it was some sort of robo-call. When I said I was their daughter, the person kept saying it was meant for me, which made no sense. They kept changing the price too - first it was 19p daily, then today suddenly 99p. Plus, they wanted me to give a testimonial and insisted the deal was only good for today. Total scam, best to block and ignore.

I tried calling back using another number. It was some kind of sales call, something to do with energy, based on the automated message, but the connection was awful so I couldn't catch the whole thing. We're on the TPS list, so why would a proper company bother to call? Honestly, I think the TPS scheme is pretty useless. If you can't even tell who’s ringing you because the message is unclear and you just have a number, what's the point? They should really do something if the same number rings people repeatedly.

I couldn't shake the feeling that this one was just another automated setup, almost like it was programmed with certain phrases to mimic a genuine human touch. Plus, it seems they're employing that dodgy number spoofing tactic to make it appear as if the call's coming from a local number - a ruse often adopted in the field since folks are more inclined to pick up. I'm definitely planning to notify the ICO about this!
