Every day, I get calls from numbers with the same area code but just a few digits off. Even though we’re on the TPS list and our number’s ex-directory, these scammers don’t seem to care and keep ringing anyway!

Got a call about an energy survey and loft insulation. When I asked how they found my number since I’m unlisted, there was a big silence before they kept going with their pitch. I checked if I was talking to a human, got a weird laugh and a “no, not a robot” answer. Asked again about where my number came from, more silence, then the call just ended. Blocked the number straight away.

So the phone rang and the first thing they said was, “I hear you’ve got a driveway?” like, what kinda question is that? Then there was all this fake-sounding call centre noise in the background. That was the lot - i just ended the call pretty quick. Whenever a call comes from this number, it’s usually marked as annoying or even threatening around here.

I looked it up elsewhere and folks have searched it over 10 times since the 16th and there’s at least five warnings about selling insulation and things like that. Definitely dodgy.

Got a call from what seemed like a genuine person, though I’m sure it was a recorded voice, about some government scheme for energy saving grants. I told them I wouldn’t be eligible and then the call just cut off. The recorded message seemed to keep going for a bit before it went silent.

Got a call earlier from some bloke claiming to be my 'Local Energy Supplier'. Funny how he rang from like a hundred miles away and still calls himself local. I told him straight up I wasn’t interested in buying anything, or getting a smart meter fitted, or any of that double glazing nonsense. Told him to stop ringing my number again, then I just hung up. When I asked where he’d got my number from, he said it came from some utility list. Thing is, our number isn’t listed anywhere publicly and we’re on the TPS, so I pressed him again about how he actually got it. He just hung up on me. Happend on 16th April 2021 around 2:05pm.
