It's quite clear from the other remarks that these are likely fraudsters. I've received calls from them on two separate occasions within just 48 hours.

Today, 19th September 2023, I received a call from the number 01225296086, claiming to be from Octopus Energy. I sensed something was amiss right away. They requested I locate an invoice and promised to assist me with the information they needed - if they were indeed Octopus, surely they would have all the information right in front of them! It was quite clear they were not who they claimed to be. I informed them that their number and location didn't match and that I wouldn't hesitate to give them a piece of my mind if they called again. I've also reported this to Octopus to ensure they’re aware of these dodgy antics.

Received a call from someone claiming to be with EDF, saying there was an issue with our meter reading. He mentioned a postcode that didn’t match up and requested the right one. Additionally, he asked for my email address. Quite shrewd of him to be asking for names too. His accent was distinctly Indian. Similar to what others have reported, he inquired about our meter number but seemed to have no clue himself. I’ll be reaching out to my actual provider for clarification now.

Had a right dodgy phone call today... The blokes rang me multiple times, claiming there was an issue with our electricity charges. They had some convincing info, even knew who our provider was! They were probing for more details, but thankfully, we didn’t hand over anything. Definitely a scam!

It's puzzling how it seems to be the same individual trying to pull the wool over our eyes for the past couple of years. Must be a rather small operation of con artists!

I received a rather dodgy call today from someone claiming to be in touch with our accounts team. The chap had a pronounced Indian accent, and there was a cacophony of background noise that made it all the more suspicious. He asserted he was from our energy provider—when I queried who that was, he completely bypassed the question. Instead, he rambled on about a supposed error with our meter reading, insisting that a meter reader had mistakenly noted an incorrect postcode, which he then proceeded to recite back to me. He assured me that we wouldn't incur any charges, but oddly enough he requested our meter number. I told him I’d scrutinise our upcoming bill and promptly ended the call. It’s curious how he knew we were a business and what our postcode was yet had no clue who supplied our energy. It certainly felt like a fishing expedition aimed at snagging our meter number, and I suspect had I divulged that, it would’ve led to some sort of scam.
