Hey, just a heads up - this is definitely a con. They want you to buy £200 worth of iTunes gift cards to cover VAT on a fake PPI payout of £3,857. Honestly, tell them to jog on. This is another one of those scams trying to catch you out.

My ninety-year-old mother-in-law has been inundated with calls from 01224980374. The chap on the other end introduces himself as Sam Morris, claiming to represent the government. She’s utterly convinced they’re about to deliver some sort of cheque.
I can’t help but think this is just another scam doing the rounds. It’d be brilliant if the authorities or the telecom firms could take action to put an end to these calls once and for all.

I received a call earlier today from someone claiming to be with the Financial Advisory Service, stating that I was entitled to a PPI payout exceeding £2000. He instructed me to visit the post office to obtain a MoneyGram form and mentioned he would call me again later. I told him I would return the call and requested his number, which he provided as 01224980374. Something didn’t sit right with me, and I soon figured out it was a scam, so I opted not to get the form or follow up with him.

Received a call regarding a PPI compensation, claiming I was due £3,807. The caller instructed me to head to the post office for a MoneyGram form and promised that someone would drop off the cheque at my home. I kept affirming what he said, saying "yes" and "alright." He mentioned he would ring me back once I had the form, but I told him I’d get in touch later. Since then, I've had nothing from him at all.
