Got a call from an Aberdeen number, guy sounded English and said he was with Retail Merchant Services about card machines. When I asked for the company name, he was really dodgy and wouldn’t say. I just told him I wasn’t interested and hung up. I checked and there’s no such company. Seems like he was just using a generic name for selling card machine stuff. Number’s blocked now.

This kind of statement often serves as a ruse by the caller-I suspect it’s a scammer aiming to trick their target into installing dodgy remote access programmes, typically AnyDesk nowadays, though it used to be TeamViewer or SupremoControl, among others. Once they gain access to the victim’s device, they’ll coax them into signing into their online banking via their so-called "secure server - I can't see" (which is utter nonsense), obscure the screen, and then pillage their bank funds.

Often, this is a trick where the caller (who's a scammer) persuades you to install remote access software, like AnyDesk now, before it was TeamViewer or SupremoControl. Once they gain control of your PC or phone, they ask you to log into your bank saying it’s a “safe server I can’t see” (which is a total fib), black out your screen and then rob your bank account.

Someone called claiming to be from EE, asking for personal details. When I told him he was a scammer, he started swearing. Sounded like an Indian accent and got really aggressive once I challenged him. Reported the lot to OFCOM and the police because of the rude behaviour.

I received a rather dubious call from an Indian call centre purporting to be affiliated with EE. When I confronted them regarding their insistence on obtaining my PIN and security details, they resorted to foul language, which was entirely uncalled-for, before abruptly ending the call.

Without a doubt, this was a scam and I would strongly advise steering clear of it. I've taken the liberty of reporting this number to both EE and Ofcom, as it is not just a con, but also displays appalling behaviour.

Got a call from this number, the bloke said he was from Sky about my internet, and asked me to enter some stuff in my browser. When I said to call back tomorrow and chat with my husband, he got really rude and kept saying it wouldn’t take long, then swore at me when I said no. (012249 28574).

Got a call from a bloke called John who spoke with a weird accent, claiming he was ringing from 3 Mobile about some deals. He tried to sell me an iPhone 14 for £35 a month. When I said that was more than my current bill, he quickly switched to offering the iPhone 14 Pro for £40 a month. I told him that was even pricier and he got really annoyed, telling me I was wasting his time. Be careful, this sounds like a scam.

Got a call from this dialling code, some guy said he was with Sky about my broadband. He asked me to enter something into my browser but when I said to call back tomorrow so my husband could answer, he suddenly got really rude and kept telling me it would only take a minute. Had a call from someone claiming to be from EE, then suddenly they said they were from Currys or PC World in the same phonecall. I kept questioning the woman who phoned first and finally she put me through to a 'manager'. Got a bit mixed up, calling himself a manager but after asking some stuff, he accidentally mentioned he was actually based in Kolkata, India before quickly going back to reading from his script. It sounded like BT to me. They’d emailed me some kind of verification code, which is scary cos how did they get that?! Then came the classic line about lots of strangers using my internet and how they could stop it. The call centre was super loud, probably in India, and after a bit they put me through to their 'supervisor'. I called him out as a scammer and he actually asked if I’d gone mad! Seriously, do they really think we’re that daft?!

Got a call off some bloke saying he was from 'Currys/Carphone Warehouse', but couldn’t even tell me my own name, even though he’d phoned me. He kept going on about me being eligible for an upgrade and tried to get me to verify my details and what phone I had. I wasn’t about to give out any personal info. If they really knew I was due an upgrade (which I’m not), they’d surely know my name, right? When I told him that I wasn’t due an upgrade, he sounded annoyed and just hung up. The caller ID even said "Potential Fraud" when he rang. Seemed really sketchy. I’m guessing it was just some scammer trying to get me to upgrade and slip them my private info and bank details. It’s a shame because I reckon some folks might actually fall for it.

I saw some of the other comments and thought I’d share my experience. This time the person on the phone claimed to be from Carphone Warehouse. They asked what kind of phone I used. I didn’t answer, and they quickly started rattling off their usual spiel about amazing offers and the like. I ended the call nicely and told them I wasn’t interested, then wished them a nice day. It might’ve been a scam, who knows, so I’m always cautious. Didn’t let it go any further though.

I got a call from this number at 15:59 on 29/9/22. The person said they were ringing from Kalisa Mobile and wanted to pitch me a deal on an iPhone. I told them I’d never heard of that company and that I’m not a fan of iPhones. Then they tried offering a Samsung instead, but I said it’s a rubbish phone and I’m still tied into a contract. They said they could switch my contract to Kalisa and asked about what phone I use and who my current provider is. I refused to share any info, told them I’m happy with my current phone and provider, thanked them for calling, and hung up.

I got a mysterious ring from some bloke claiming to be from Curry’s, asking if I was interested in a phone upgrade. He had a bit of a foreign accent and introduced himself as Rory, said he was calling from Aberdeen. He was quite polite, even said “God Bless You” out of the blue which was a bit odd.
