Got a dodgy call claiming to be from BT about my internet speed. The bloke had a really thick accent, sounded Indian or somewhere similar. He said they’d checked my router and that my speed was rubbish. Honestly, it was obvious he was just reading from a script - I’m not even with BT, I’m on Virgin Fiber! Total scam.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been getting daily calls from an Indian call centre pretending to be BT Openreach, saying they need to talk about “my internet connection.” Thing is, I’m not even a BT customer! It’s obvious they’re trying to con me into buying some fake broadband service or fixing a problem that doesn’t exist. Proper annoying and feels like a total scam.

I usually avoid picking up calls from numbers I don't recognise, but since I'm switching my internet provider from BT this week, I thought this might be connected. The woman on the line spoke with an accent and claimed she was calling on behalf of BT about my internet. When I told her I was already changing providers, she just hung up on me.
