Got a call from someone claiming to be from 'BT Openreach' about my slow internet. I mentioned I’m just a stone’s throw away from an Openreach building here in Devon (which is true), and then he said he was calling from their main office in Bangalore. How come these dodgy call centres abroad can use UK phone numbers or ones that seem like local landlines? He was trying to get me to give him control of my laptop.

Got a phone call from someone claiming to be from 'BT Openreach' trying to get me to let them into my laptop. Funny enough, I live just down the road from their building. When I asked, the bloke said he was calling from their main office in Bangalore. Makes you wonder, if he’s overseas, why use a UK number? How come it’s allowed for scammers abroad to mask their calls with local numbers? Anyway, I’ve blocked them now. I probably wasted loads of his time though, so I’m expecting to get plenty more annoying calls coming my way.
