Got a call from this number at 7:50 in the morning! Usually my phone blocks calls like this but I switched it off cause I was waiting for a hospital call and totally forgot to switch it back on. I honestly thought it was something serious about a family member given the early hour. When I answered, you could hear loads of background noise, clearly a call centre. I just hung up and looked up the number here, thinking if it was important, they’d ring again. Glad I ended the call after reading the reviews. Someone claimed to be from Openreach, saying my internet was being used overseas. The caller’s accent sounded like it was from India.

Properly threatening and a real pain. Claimed she was ringing from our broadband company saying our account was hacked, complete rubbish. They really ought to do more to put an end to these calls.

Got a call this morning around 8am, someone said they were from BT saying my IP was being used by others and they needed to protect my internet. The voice was Indian and you could hear other calls in the background like a call centre. I told them I’m not even a BT customer and asked who my actual provider was, then they just ended the call.

So this guy called me, said his name was Charlie and claimed my BT broadband deal was nearly up. He told me to open Google Chrome and type in some website so he could "sort out" the problem. Seemed super dodgy to me, like he was just trying to get remote control of my computer. This happened on 4th Feb 2022 around 1:23pm.

I recently received a dodgy call claiming to be from "Amazon." Two men of Asian descent were on the line, insisting I’d placed a dodgy order for an iPhone 7 costing £400. To top it off, they sent a text that looked like it came from Amazon, cleverly weaving it into what seemed like a legitimate chat. Their ruse fell apart when they requested I verify a one-time passcode they had just sent my way. I'd highly recommend hanging up, blocking the number, and reporting this to https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/ straightaway. Stay vigilant, everyone!

Claimed to be from my internet provider but no company name was mentioned, so I just assumed it was spam right away. I didn’t say a word, ended the call and blocked the number straight away. Would recommend anyone getting calls from this number do the same.

Can someone help me out? I’m obsessed with catching these scammers red-handed. I just give them my number and tell them to ring “your mate” since they’ve set up the account with all your details. Then I’m on the line wasting their time instead. I keep feeding them my phone number - it’s 07849 092829.

I received a call from a woman with an Asian accent who asserted she was reaching out regarding an outstanding bill for Openreach broadband - something I don’t even possess! The moment I informed her of this fact, she promptly ended the call. It does make one ponder why such a landline number remains operational, doesn't it?

Got another call today from a different number, but no doubt it's linked. This time it was just dead silence. Honestly, it's crazy how some people have no shame scamming others to get by - gotta feed their family somehow, I guess. Then again, I don’t live in Aberdeen, where this number supposedly comes from!

Got a call on my landline from someone sounding far away with quite poor English. They claimed to be from my internet provider saying there were loads of errors in my connection recently and it was very slow. They asked if that was right. Then they went on asking about what gadgets I had, like PCs, laptops and phones, but seemed really fixated on my mobile phone. They wanted to know the brand, model and what operating system it used. It was obviously a scam, but I didn’t bother sticking around to see what kind exactly. I’d say this call is HIGH-RISK and definitely a SCAM.

Received a call from this number earlier today. There was a woman on the line chattering away in some sort of odd tongue that sounded like Klingon or something. I couldn't make heads or tails of it, so I decided to have a bit of fun and responded in Scottish Gaelic. She didn’t stick around for long and hung up!
