I didn’t pick up, but they left a voicemail with just a robotic female voice saying “bye.” It felt pretty dodgy (and kinda eerie).

Got a call from them but no one spoke when I picked up so I just ended the call. Then, out of nowhere, they rang back exactly 30 minutes later. I didn’t pick up the second time but it did make me think they might have some sort of automatic dialler on a timer.

This number popped up on my phone earlier today, but it stopped ringing before I could pick up. Figured it was probably a scam or something. It came up as a call from Aberdeen, which is strange cos I don't really get calls from that area.

My phone showed this number as a possible scam, but I was intrigued and picked up. The caller didn’t seem to know my name, so I ended the call pretty quickly, even though I wanted to say a few rude things before hanging up. Reading the comments here, it’s clear now that it’s probably just a scam.

Got a few texts saying they were from o2 with a code and some warning about calls. Problem is, I haven’t had an o2 contract for years. There was a short number to ring if you thought it might be a scam, but I reckon that’s part of the trick. At the same time as the texts, I got a call from the same number but I didn’t pick up since my phone flagged it as maybe a scam. Then they rang back twice a few hours later, identified as probable telemarketers, so I left them ringing.

Someone said they were from O2 but I didn’t want to chat with them. At the same moment, I got a security code from O2 out of the blue - really sketchy. Don’t trust that number, they were clearly trying to get into my mobile account by using the forgot password trick. Definitely dodgy.

They said they were from O2, but the number on my caller ID was just a local landline, no mention of O2 or anything. They offered me a free SIM card to get 5G access. Then they sent me some codes by text and asked me to read them out loud. Thing is, the messages clearly said not to share those codes with anyone, not even O2 employees. I kept telling them I felt iffy and wasn’t sure about it. They tried really hard to convince me it was alright, saying it was in case of scammers calling later and since they were the ones creating the codes, it was safe to give them over.
3 years
Heads up everyone. These fraudsters will really mess things up if they manage to snag your personal details. Some of them are surprisingly convincing as well. If you’re looking to get a new phone or sort out your contract, it’s best to reach out directly to your provider or pop into a phone store or shopping centre to sort things in person, if you can. Seriously gotta watch your back nowadays. Absolute crooks!

Been getting loads of calls from numbers starting with 01226 044 lately. I haven't picked up any, and now I see why. Also got one of those account reset codes through as well.

Same thing happened to me. They said they were O2 and offering some 40% off deal. Then they wanted a 6-digit code I had no clue about. When I said I couldn’t confirm if it was legit, I just hung up. Later, I got two texts (supposedly from O2). One was a security alert warning me not to share the code I’d get soon. The other had the code itself with a note not to give it to anyone but to use it to "access" my O2 account. Proper confusing and sketchy... what even is that?

Got a 'one time code' text from O2 out of the blue, never requested it, then a number from Aberdeen called me right after. Felt fishy so I just let it ring out and blocked the number. Contacted O2 and they confirmed my account is safe but said this is a common thing right now - definitely a scam. Don’t pick up or share any codes you get like that. Checked this site and it looks like loads of people are getting calls from that number today, so watch out, it’s a phishing attempt.

Some bloke called me from Aberdeen saying his name was George but he didn’t sound Scottish at all. He claimed to be from Three and had a great deal on offer. I told him I was sure his number would turn out to be a scam if I looked it up. He insisted it wasn’t. I just said “we’ll see” and ended the chat.
