I got a call from someone claiming to be Alfred Doyle, saying my computer was sending out error alerts and that it was hacked. It’s a total fake, watch out! Microsoft doesn’t do phone calls like this to warn you about problems. These scammers just pretend to be from Microsoft. They try to trick you into paying money after they get access to your computer. If you pay up, it doesn’t solve anything. Just block the number and report it to Action Fraud straight away.

Got a call this morning at 8:15, picked up and they just dropped the line straight away. So frustrating! I’ve tried blocking their numbers but then they ring from another one. Pretty clear it’s a scam, wouldn’t it be good if there was a way to stop this for good?

My mother in law’s old landline rang at 7 in the morning from 01224015316. She was really shaken up, thinking something was wrong with someone in the family. It’s awful these scammers pick on old people like that. Tried calling the number back loads of times but it just doesn’t go through. Honestly, these scoundrels deserve to be locked up. It’s horrible how they target vulnerable folks.

I didn’t pick up, just let it ring to answerphone. The person on the other end said "Hello" but then just cut off. In the background, I heard what seemed like a busy call centre. Since there was no clear message left, I’m guessing it was some sort of scam.

Got a call on my home phone around 12.50pm today. I rarely leave my answerphone on now, so no message was left. From what I’ve read in other reviews, this seems like one of those Broadband scams. They really shouldn’t be calling me at all since I’m ex-directory and on the TPS list. Yet, they keep calling - it’s clear they’re pretty desperate!

So this number rang my phone at 7:08 in the morning, saying they were from Microsoft. I told them straight up that if they rang me again, I’d report them to the police. Some bloke ringing up saying he was from BT, with all that noisy call centre stuff you hear in the backround. He was going on about my broadband acting up, blaming it on some strangers supposedly piggybacking on my connection. Tried to scare me by implying I might be breaking the law. Then he asked me to stay at my computer and follow some steps - that’s when I just hung up. I did try to check who he really was, but he said he had loads of my security details which I’d never heard of. The whole thing just felt like a trick to freak me out!

Claiming to be from Microsoft, they were obviously trying to pull a fast one. I informed them it was all rubbish. Beware, this is definitely a con. Some bloke phoned me saying he was from Microsoft and started going on about my computer’s “security software”, which he obviously knew nothing about. No way would Microsoft call you out of the blue like that. When I said I knew it was a scam, he turned quite hostile. This kind of trick is really risky because it might trick others into letting him mess around on their PC.
