He wouldn’t tell me who he was or what company he worked for, but kept insisting I confirm my full address and name. Every time I asked for his ID and why he was calling, he just hung up straight away.

At that point, they turned rather hostile and even threatened to keep ringing me back incessantly before abruptly hanging up. It left me quite baffled. Clearly, this reeks of a scam, albeit one lacking any finesse.
