A lady rang me saying she’d been told I’d been in an accident lately - asked if it was true. I told her no. Then I asked where she’d found my number since I’m on the telephone preference service. She didn’t say anything and just ended the call.

Utterly irritating! I've played their game a few times, indulging their nonsense, but after ten calls in just one week, it's all getting a bit tiresome, to be honest. It reminds me of the old days when those PPI scams bombarded my landline. In the end, I decided to put BT Guardian in place, and that did the trick. Now, if only they could whip up something similar for mobile phones, it would be a grand relief!

I thought I’d turn the tables on them, you see... I confided in her that the (made-up) accident I claimed was really my own doing. She urged me not to be too certain. So, I said that I was well over the legal limit for booze and juggling two mobile devices-sending a text on one while chatting to my supplier on the other-before ploughing headfirst into a brick wall. She then posited that perhaps the wall ought not to have been there in the first place, hinting that I might have grounds to file a claim against the wall's owner.

I encountered a rather similar situation, I must say. The caller introduced themselves as Mr. Armless, claiming he had recently lost both his arms in a motoring mishap, and seemed rather thrilled that they’d managed to get in touch. Then, rather abruptly, they hung up. It’s quite perplexing, really-why is it that you can't return their call?
