Got a call at 9:56 from a bloke who said his name was Mark, claiming to be from GB Handsets. Bit weird, but he asked if I’d swapped my card recently - which I had. He told me to check it out and said he’d hang on. I left him waiting, fobbing him off like I was fetching the card. After about 5 minutes, I just ended the call.

Got a call today from a guy who sounded Indian. Totally felt like a scam to me. Honestly, folks doing these kinds of calls are pretty dodgy and I'd steer well clear of them.

The person on the phone knew my name and said they wanted to upgrade my call blocking for annoying calls. I told them I wasn’t interested and said they were actually the nuisance, then I just ended the call.

Someone saying they were from "GB Handsets" said they sorted out blocking cold calls. I asked them for their official company registration number at Companies House and they just ended the call. Feels like a scam to me.

Got a call off a lady with an accent, you could hear people chatting in the background like a call centre. She claimed it was about reporting annoying calls, but when I asked what company she was from she just hung up and never called again. I'm based in Manchester. She also gave a name that doesn’t match the one on my phone bills, so I was pretty sure it was a scam straight away!

Got a call from a guy with a really thick Indian accent who said his name was Peter Radcliffe. He was talking about some service to block nuisance calls, and I asked him if it would actually stop callers like him from ringing me. Pretty soon I figured out it was dodgy. Then when he wanted me to verify my address, I deliberately gave him the wrong details and he hung up straight away.

Got a call from some place named GB Handsets, said they could stop all annoying calls, local, national and even from abroad. Funny enough, the moment I mentioned we're on the TPS list, they just cut me off. Wonder if that covers their own calls too!

That call blocking scam is everywhere now. Seems like once lockdown ended, all the scammers suddenly came out of nowhere.

I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent, he started going on about stopping unwanted calls. He actually knew my full name, address and postcode which freaked me out a bit. Then he mentioned one of my Visa cards that supposedly expires in 2021, and that’s when I just hung up on him.

CHEATS trying to con folks. I'd say report it to the coppers. They were clearly trying to rip us off. Just google 'action fraud', go to the official 'police.uk' website, hit the 'report' tab, then pick the phishing option from the dropdown. Scroll down past the scam email guides and you can file your report there with no need to sign up. Blocking numbers is pointless these days - these crooks have endless numbers and most phones or apps only let you block so many before it stops working properly.

Every afternoon around quarter to four, I get calls from these lot. I usually pick up and give it to them straight, a bit blunt. Most of the time, about 80%, they hang up on me. Only once did I try asking for their company and who they were - they ended up swearing and hanging up on me. They claimed it was something to do with blocking calls. Never even made it to asking about my visa details, which is a shame, really, because I had a good few choice words lined up for them. Total scammers, for sure!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Hanson, a company that wanted to know if I was still receiving unwanted calls. The person inquired about my name and address, which made me suspicious. I decided to ask the caller if this was a "phishing" call, but to my surprise, he didn't know what that meant. This only confirmed my suspicions that he was indeed attempting to deceive me.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from GB Handset, saying they dealt with stopping nuisance calls. They went on to verify my address, then suddenly asked for my visa/debit card details. That immediately raised a red flag for me. While still on the line, I quickly searched their company online and couldn’t find any trace of them. I told the person that I couldn’t find any proof they were legit and wasn’t comfortable sharing my info. Predictably, they just ended the call straight away!

Got a call from someone with an overseas accent claiming they were dealing with complaints about nuisance calls to seniors. They told me my number would be blocked starting next week. They even said they were aware I pay my bills by Visa direct debit and that my payments are always on time. They knew my full name and address, then asked me to confirm which card I use to pay the bill. I didn’t want to go any further so I just ended the call. Sounded very convincing though... I almost fell for it. Watch out for this!

Got a phone call from a woman speaking with a Scottish accent, talking about some electrical device. She claimed my insurance policy had run out and I had to renew it. When I asked which company she represented and requested her name, she mentioned something like Domestic Insurance but wouldn’t give me her name. I told her I’m on the TPS list and shouldn’t be receiving calls like this, but she insisted my number was the one I’d given them. I ended the call and decided to reach out to this site. Watch out folks!!!
