I asked him for more info and then suddenly he just cut the call. Seriously, don’t get caught up in this scam. It’s best to just hang up and look up the number before doing anything else. Also, never share your personal info over the phone. I was at work and got caught off guard, so I ended up giving my full name at first - stupid mistake. But after that, I didn’t say another thing when he started asking about my bank. They only have my name and phone number, which hopefully isn’t enough to cause harm. Just be super cautious, it’s definitely a scam!

Someone called me saying I had a £1600 tax bill with HMRC that I'd not paid, and if I didn't sort it out, my bank would get frozen. I've just had a rather dodgy call that turned out to be a National Insurance scam. The person on the other end was a woman with a noticeable Indian accent, trying to pass off the call as coming from the Birmingham County Court. It felt like a desperate ruse to hide her true intentions. Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be from Birmingham County Courts - they said I had to pay part of a tax fine right away, which apparently would be refunded once sorted.
