Turns out, it’s an answering machine talking about something called EE4U?? It gave options to press 1 to talk to someone or 9 to stop the calls, but whichever I pressed, the exact same message kept playing. Pretty sure it’s a scam and honestly, quite irritating.

Got a call from 0121-667-3150 and a very articulate woman named “Christine” kept asking if I could hear her properly, mentioning “now” - which was odd as it was the first time she was calling. She claimed she was calling for the “Government Eco scheme,” which I’d never heard of before. I told her it was an unsolicited call and basically called her out as a scammer before ending the call.

Got a call from someone who sounded like they weren’t from round here, asking for a mate by a certain name. Trouble is, nobody here goes by that name. Then he wondered if the address he was ringing was right, but I said nah. When I asked where he was ringing from, he claimed it was Cornwall Council. Weirdly, he got a bit annoyed when I pointed out the number on my caller ID was a Birmingham one, not Cornish at all. Pretty sure it was just another scammer trying his luck.

This bloke with an accent called, claiming to be from the housing dept of my local council. He was going on about those govt adverts on TV about gas boilers and how I’d be aware of ’em. I told him I don’t have a gas boiler - actually, there’s no gas supply at all where I live! He quickly tried to cover it up saying he’d make a note of that. Smells fishy to me, definitely seems like a SCAM.

Plenty of companies help with getting eco funding as they earn a cut from the people they sign up. It’s pretty useful if you don’t want to go through the hassle on your own. Last time there was an eco scheme, I used one of these services but didn’t manage to qualify for the current one. Just wanted to say it’s a genuine free programme, so no worries about it being a scam.
