Got a call about some nationwide loft insulation check - bit odd seeing as I haven't even got a loft. When I mentioned that, they said it must be another firm, but they were using the exact same lines as a couple of other numbers I've had recently, all trying to sell the same thing. The woman on the phone, after ditching the computer script, really struggled to chat in English. I reckon she meant to say she was from Spain when asked "Where are you calling from?". The call was supposed to be about insulation rules or something. Seems to me she was just gathering a list of folks to target later. Then some con artist or pushy seller of pricey services might ring back, trying to convince people the Telephone Preference Service doesn’t protect them from this sort of scam.

They claimed it wasn’t a sales call and said they were doing some checks for the Government about home insulation. Strangely, they already had all my info when they called (name, address, postcode). I asked where they got my details from but they just ignored me. Instead of hanging up, the lady said she wasn’t trained to share that info! From reading other comments, I reckon it’s a scam where they get you to explain how your home’s insulated and then offer a fake Government grant, asking for your bank details to “process” it...

The caller never got past our automated message, which usually means they weren’t after us in particular. I’d seriously suggest using call interceptors - real people manage to get through without problems, but muppets like this don’t bother and just move on to the next person who picks up.

Picked up a call from an Asian woman talking about some survey, asking loads of questions but her English was really hard to follow. She asked if I owned the house, what brand my TV was and what kind of dishwasher I had. She even knew my postcode and address which made me a bit uneasy.
