Got two calls from this number within just a couple of days. I checked with Ofcom and they told me it’s definitely a scam. They suggested I should report it to Fraud Investigations by ringing 0300 123 2040.

This is just a dodgy scam from overseas pretending to be local by using a Birmingham phone number. They want to trick folks into picking up. Openreach wouldn’t just disconnect your phone or broadband like that. OFCOM really needs to do something to block these kinds of numbers. Even if the scammers are abroad and out of their reach, the phone numbers themselves are still meant to be under OFCOM’s control.

I also got a call from 01216035620, it was the same old scam again.

Got a call from 01216035620, which turned out to be a robo message about some broadband upgrade. It said to hang on the line if I wanted to chat with an actual person.

Got a call saying it was BT about an upgrade, was told to hold for a moment so someone could talk to me. I just hung up instead and ended the call.

Had a missed call from what seemed like a local number, so I decided to search it here. Thankfully, I don’t have to stress about it. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a genuine caller though - anyone know how they deal with these fake or "spoofed" numbers? Can anything actually be done to stop it?

Got a call today at 8.37 am, second time they rang me this morning. They said they were from Ofcom and talked about some forced broadband update, asked me to wait while they connected me to someone else. I just cut the call. Sounds a lot like what others have said about the 01287584135 number, which called me super early at 7.06 am too.
