2 yearsI received a call from a woman’s voice who simply asked if I could hear her, then promptly disconnected. The accent was distinctly British, but I suspect the voice was merely a recording used for this con. Throughout my numerous encounters with scam calls, I've never once spoken to anyone who didn’t have a foreign accent - typically from those hailing from India, Pakistan, or Nigeria. It’s truly infuriating! It feels like this country's once pristine reputation is being sullied by these parasitic scams that have been brought in from elsewhere. It makes one wonder: what exactly do these people (and I consciously use the term “these people”) plan to do with my recorded "Yes"? While it may not be as alarming as the endless fraud attempts on platforms like Microsoft Bing, Facebook, YouTube, eBay, and Amazon, these calls certainly keep plaguing us. If only we had a police force that genuinely defended the public it claims to serve, perhaps these offences would be thoroughly probed and those responsible brought to justice. Unfortunately, it seems the police are caught up in their own agenda, tackling what they label as hate crimes while turning a blind eye to the real issues. Those in uniform may very well be sick individuals who, if not donned in their badges, would likely engage in criminal activity themselves.
