Someone called saying they were from Amazon Prime, but I don’t think it was legit. Felt a bit dodgy to me.

I also received a voicemail from them, threatening legal action. When I rang back to find out what was going on, the bloke on the phone asked for my number to check who I was. He mispronounced my name and surname terribly. I asked why he was calling, and he claimed I hadn’t paid taxes from 2010 to 2016. I explained I hadn’t been working during those years, so obviously no tax was paid. He said he’d investigate and ring me back, then just ended the call. These scammers really need to be reported.

Got a voicemail from Dennis Grey claiming to be from HMRC on 0121 318 9938. The message was really threatening and made me feel quite uneasy. I contacted HMRC directly and they told me they don’t contact people like that; any official stuff would come through the post, never a call like that. Definitely reported it to www.actionfraud.police.uk to make sure it gets looked into.

I contacted Action Fraud and HMRC about this scam yesterday. When I called the West Midlands police today because it was still going on, they just told me to report it to Action Fraud again! Feels like these fraudsters will keep getting away with it for some time yet.

I've had the same thing happen, called me twice within a couple of days, once on the 26th and then again on the 27th, both times about the same hour. No way I'm picking up next time!

About 45 minutes ago I got a call from an automated voice but they never said who they were. It was basically a warning that I should ring them back or have my lawyer do it. The number to call was an 0121 one, but I chose not to ring it. The message sounded pretty threatening, saying if I didn’t respond I’d ‘face the full weight of the law’ or something like that. Honestly, shouldn’t the police or HMRC be shutting down this scammy number?

Hey, I just got a call like this too and the way they talked made me suspect it was a SCAM straight away. Still, it’s a bit unsettling and could easily trick someone for a moment. It’s really awful, especially with Christmas coming up - I’m sure some unlucky person is going to fall for it. Proper disgraceful behaviour!

Today I got a voicemail from HMRC telling me to call back “Officer Dennis Grey” about something urgent that needs attention right away. The call was automated and ended abruptly before finishing the message. Seems like a scam to me since I’m a student without a job anyway!

Someone rang me saying I needed to call them straight away. When I finally got hold of them, they wanted to talk to my husband. I asked what it was regarding and they claimed my husband had some debt. I told them that couldn’t be right, then they warned that the police would be arriving in thirty minutes.

Beware, I got a voicemail supposedly from HMRC saying it was Dennis Grey. They told me not to ignore the call and to ring back straight away or have my lawyer do it, finishing with a warning like "Prepare yourself!!". Sounds like a total scam to me, but I can see how it would scare some folks.

Got a voicemail from someone calling himself Officer Dennis Grey at HMRC, threatening legal action if I didn't ring back or if my lawyer didn’t get in touch. I reached out to HMRC to make a complaint. They did take my info but told me to file a report online at WWW.ACTIONFRAUD.POLICE.UK. On the homepage, the first tab called ‘REPORTING’ has an option for “Report a Phishing Attempt”. I filled it in - we need to put a stop to these crooks. It’s really scary to think they might target someone more vulnerable who could end up handing over personal info. Honestly, it’s chilling.

I told them I’d ring back later. I’ve now informed HMRC about it, and they’ve forwarded everything to their fraud squad. Don’t hand over any info to these scammers - they had Indian accents.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC asking for my lawyer’s number about some so-called court case, said it was urgent and had to be dealt with straight away. I rang back using another number and spoke to a guy with an Indian accent who said it was just the police station’s outgoing line. What a scam, honestly! Watch out for these dodgy calls!
