On 5th Feb 2022 at about 7.34 in the morning, I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from Virginmedia and that my internet speed was really poor. I replied that I’d have it checked out, but he insisted he could fix it straight away. I told him I’d ask someone at my office to deal with it since I’m a senior manager at Virginmedia (which I’m definitely not). Then all I heard was silence - “Hello? Are you still there?” Next thing, “The person who called you has ended the call” popped up. Quite the weird one! :-)

They rang me super early while I was still in bed. My husband, who's 87, half-awake, answered the phone and then called me, thinking it was important. Apparently it was about broadband or something. But by the time I got to the phone, the caller had already hung up. I looked up the number starting with 0471 and found out who it was. These calls are becoming so annoying. It’s worse when they come from within the UK, even from nearby! I was sure these kinds of calls had been stopped here. We do still get calls from India now and then, but sadly there’s not much that can be done about those.

I missed answering this call, and they didn’t bother leaving a voicemail. The number isn’t familiar to me at all.

This number has called me three times now, the latest at 7:30 this morning. The first call was weird, nobody spoke. Today, I was in the shower and couldn’t pick up. Seeing what others said here, I’m just going to block it for good.

I got a call from this number claiming to be Virgin Media, trying to trick me into giving them remote access to my computer. Seriously, don’t let them connect remotely or they might mess with your stuff. I told Virgin Media about it since they're my provider, and when I asked the caller why they needed remote access, the woman, who sounded Asian, just cut the call straight away. Definitely a scammer!

Got a call on 15/1/22 from a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from Virgin Media. He mentioned my router was showing errors and asked if I'd noticed my internet was running slow. When I asked which of my two accounts he was talking about, he just hung up. Pretty obvious scam to me. Had something similar back in Autumn last year. Almost got caught out because I was actually having problems with Virgin around then. Seems like they’re banking on people being confused or worried about real issues.

I keep getting calls from this number asking if I’m experiencing any issues. Then they start asking how many gadgets I own. The moment I say I don’t have a laptop, they just hang up on me. It’s really annoying!

This number rang me twice really early in the morning. The first time, an Asian guy said "Hello" but I didn't answer back cause it was so early, so I just ended the call. When they called again, I answered but they stayed quiet, so I just hung up straight away.

I’ve had calls from this number thrice already this week, with the caller claiming to be from Virgin Media. Whenever I asked what they wanted, they just ended the call. Strangely, each time the accent was different.

I'm from Essex and got a call around 1.50am. When I answered with 'Hello', the bloke on the other end, sounded like he might be Asian, just said 'Hellool' back, like he stuttered or something. It felt a bit off, so I quickly hung up. Weirdly, about 15 minutes before that, I'd been on Virgin's site trying to check for outages nearby, but it just gave me an ERROR before loading anything. Bit fishy if you ask me.

Got a call for the second time in as many days from someone claiming to be Virgin Media about issues with our broadband router. The first time I asked them to verify our account number and they just ended the call! Then about five minutes ago, they called again, and I told them to buzz off before blocking the number.

Got a call this morning at 8:57 am and all I heard was silence. Pretty sure it was one of those scam calls to check if someone’s actually answering. It’s annoying how they ring just to see if you’re there, like they’re stalking you or something. Feels like they’re planning to come back and bother us again. Proper harassment if you ask me!

I missed the call from this number, but when I looked it up, it came up as a possible Virgin Media scam. I’ve had a few calls like this before, and spoke to someone who works for Virgin, who told me they never ring customers to check broadband speeds - they always wait for the customer to get in touch first. So be careful, don’t let anyone persuade you to log in or give access to your computer, because apparently they could take control of it.
