I’m trying to get a refund for some charges linked to a loan that I don’t even possess!

Me and my girlfriend fell right into a terrible scam by these awful people today. Honestly, I was so crushed I nearly ended my life because of it. Watch out for someone called Thomas Christopher Ian David if they ring you. After finally settling into our new place, we thought we’d get a bit of help with a loan. We applied, and then these horrible people contacted us saying we’d be approved for a £1000 loan - sounded great, right? But then they said we’d have to pay some insurance fee, supposedly refundable, so that took it to £1100. We were unsure but thought, what the heck, let’s pay that £100 and get the money. Big mistake!! After that, they asked for a further £225 for tax, again supposedly refundable, making the total amount around £1325. We paid it, thinking it was all sorted. But nothing happened. The guy I spoke to - maybe David? - sounded really dodgy and kept telling me to calm down when I was getting frustrated. It just didn’t feel right. Long story short, we ended up sending them nearly £1000 in total, with promises that the cash would appear in our account by 10:15am. I barely slept that night, waking up hoping to surprise my girlfriend with good news. But nope - nothing in the bank. Then they called asking for another £250 because apparently my girlfriend made the transactions, which totally broke me. She broke down too. My sister found out about all this after my girlfriend told her about what’d happened and the awful thoughts I’d had. She came straight over, crying, and confronted them, giving them what for after some disgusting abuse they aimed at her. But by then, I was done. We had borrowed money off friends and family, sold some of our stuff, all to pay these scammers back. We gave away our shopping money, car insurance cash, even the savings I’d put aside for my daughter’s 18th birthday in a couple of weeks. Now, we’re having to sell our car just to try and start again. Sorry for the long story, but please, be careful and don’t let this happen to anyone else. Stay safe all x

Hey, just wondering if you ended up handing over the £100 and if the loan actually came through for you?

I got a call from this number earlier, but my little 4 year old picked up the phone. When she didn't respond, they began shouting my name and even called my daughter a nasty name. After that, they started threatening to sue me and said they’d take money straight from my bank. Really disturbing!

Can someone tell me who this number belongs to?

I just had a call from this number, and the guy was asking me to pay £100 for some loan insurance or something. Did a quick search afterwards and found out it’s actually a scam.

I've had this number ring me like 6 times today and I have no idea who it is, really irritating.

I got a call about a loan supposedly approved from some place called low rate loans. But when I checked their website, the first thing that showed up was a big Scam Alert. Definitely seemed dodgy to me.
