Got a call from some bloke named Alex claiming it’s about solar panels. They usually kick off by asking if you own the house. Another red flag was when he mentioned having a few folks “around your way” - in his case, he said four people were nearby and sharing some kind of discount deal on solar panels. I told him I wasn’t bothered, ended the call, and I’m going to block that number.

These charlatans are just after draining your bank account, absolute scammers! Whenever you get one of these calls, make sure you report it to the police through their online fraud reporting system. Just search for 'action fraud' and head to the police.uk website. There’s a section specifically for phishing reports - have a good read through it, and then you can submit your report there. Seems like they target us older folks the most with this rubbish.

They kept insisting it was all about safeguarding my home if I ended up in a care facility. They were really eager for me to book a meeting through a Zoom link. After seeing what others said, I don’t plan on picking up next time.

Got a call from someone trying to pitch me a medical alert pendant. They wanted to know if I was over 50, and when I said I wasn't, they just kept on going about how falls are the main cause for ambulance calls and the importance of calling quickly after an injury. Then they just ended the call.

this bloke said his name was john and said he was from a medical alert company. he tried to tell me i'd qualify for a free medical alert pendant. didn’t even bother to ask my name, just straight away asked if i was over 50. smells a bit dodgy to me, probably a scam. so I’ve blocked the number through BT.

Just had a rather infuriating call from this individual named Sam at 5.25 PM. Interestingly, they attempted to reach me earlier when I was visiting my elderly mother, who is 88 and lives a good 18 miles away, at about 11 in the morning. While the caller was quite civil, I certainly was not in the mood for pleasantries. Honestly, if they'd focused a bit more during their school years, perhaps they would have landed a more respectable job by now! What a blithering idiot! Best, Steve H

I keep getting calls from a bloke named John who says he’s from a driveway company. It’s the same guy ringing me from loads of different numbers, but always John. He’s been calling me 2 or 3 times a day for about a week now and just won’t take a no. It’s starting to feel like proper harassment.
