I got a couple of calls today from a woman’s recorded voice, claiming I’ve got some money waiting to be claimed. Honestly, I’m so done with these dodgy calls, they just won’t stop bothering me.

Got a call today from a number I’ve saved as Refund Pest. Phone ID does help a bit, but loads of these spam calls come up as International, Unavailable or Withheld. Even genuine calls sometimes show up as Withheld, even when I’ve saved the number. It’s proper annoying, there really should be something done to sort this out.

Why is it that when I get a call from a machine it’s treated as an ICO issue, but if a person rings it’s a TPS matter? People keep going on about how the government is all joined up, but that doesn’t seem to add up to me. Here’s an idea: head down to the phone exchange linked to a number that’s had loads of complaints, hang about listening to the automated messages for an hour and a half or so. If over half are recorded messages, just pop round to the place responsible and disconnect whatever wires are linking those nasty boxes. Simple as that!

PPI claim con artists again. Heard a recorded voice telling me to press 5, so I actually did this time. Then some American voice popped up saying my call was being transferred, then I got stuck listening to a weird American dial tone. I was gonna tell them to bugger off, but after sitting through that endless dial tone for ages, I just gave up and hung up.

I received a voicemail saying I needed to claim a refund right away but never said what it was about. I hit 5 to talk to an actual person and to make sure they’d take my number off their list. A lady answered and said they handle PPI claims. When I tried to get my details taken off, she just cut the call. I ended up reporting them to the TPS.

Got a call today from some auto-dialler with the same old rubbish about a pension payout... as if they’ll actually sort something from nine years ago or sort the tax themselves... yeah, right. Ended up playing them "Land Of Hope And Glory" - shame they didn’t hang around for the whole song! Had my whistle teed up just in case. Looks like I’m gonna need a stash ready for these calls every day now.
