Total scammer - what a muppet! A very polite bloke with an Indian accent rang me up offering a job that’d apparently earn me thousands of pounds for just an hour’s work. Naturally, I said I was interested! Then he started firing off yes or no questions. Was I aged between 23 and 25, did I hold a UK bank account, was I a British citizen? I asked him where he got my phone number from. He told me it came from searching online job listings. I told him that’s not possible since my number isn’t on any job websites. He didn’t seem too keen on admitting that was a lie!

Got an automated call claiming to be from HMRC telling me to press 1 to talk to someone... I pressed it and ended up speaking to some scammer who said I had a warrant for fraud. They asked my name and whether I’m employed or self-employed, and for some daft reason, I gave them the info. Soon after, I realised it was actually an incoming call and probably a phishing attempt. I hung up straight away, then wiped my phone and restored it from a backup a couple of days old just in case they’d hacked it. Nothing dodgy has happened yet, but I’m keeping an eye on all my accounts just in case.
