A few years back I got tricked by Better Media Solutions when I tried advertising in a police magazine. Lately, this number keeps ringing me. I once picked up and the bloke said I’d placed an ad in some other magazine and they wanted payment. Sounds like it’s the same lot, or maybe they swap numbers with other scammers. I just block the calls nowadays, even though they’ve called me three times today alone.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from a number starting with 01215 555556. Curiosity got the better of me, so I dialled 1471 to track it down. The chap on the line introduced himself as Peter, but something about the whole exchange didn’t sit right with me. I challenged him to justify his identity and he provided another number, 020 3807 3796. Naturally, I decided to look it up while we were still on the line. To my surprise, I stumbled upon a thread where someone identified that number as being affiliated with Scottish Power. When I confronted him about this, he quickly changed his story, claiming to be from British Gas instead. So, I pressed him further, asking whose name was on the account. He confidently declared it to be Daniel Austin. Now, while I am indeed named Daniel, the surname he mentioned certainly isn’t mine! Not to mention, I don’t even have an account with them. When I pressed him for more details, he wasn’t able to provide any names. Definitely fishy if you ask me!
